How do you feel about Green Day?

Musically complex =/= Good.

Billie Joe is an extremely talented guitarist. Green Day has over 120 songs, and he's still writing great riffs. Complex or not.

The elitism argument isn't the strongest defense. It really doesn't mean much to call someone elitist when someone who, say, likes the videogame "Shadow the Hedgehog" can just write off someone who says that it sucks as a "videogame elitist." It essentially removes the room to judge the quality of a particular product.

A nine minute song? Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk and Dexter Gordon were playing nine minute songs as soon as you could put more than three minutes on an EP. ****, it's to the point where the aspiring Coltrane clone, I mean, jazz student can't play a 9 minute solo, he or she is considered a failure.

And don't get me started on classical music. Have you ever even looked at a four hour opera? Didn't think so.

Well, I understand that there's no point in discussing it. I know the type, and I'm not going to change any minds.

You can't really debate over music, there's too much personal preference involved. It's not like video games where you can really discuss the good and bad. Me? I like Green Day and their style. Others need moar "LOL GEETAR SOLOS".

I'm a fan of everything from Warning and before that. Shenanigans was ok. American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are just them being big-time sell-outs. I really hate to say it since they can put on a good show, and Billy-Joe has certainly improved on his guitar skills, but at the end of the day, they think their image is more important than their music :\

I mean, and I apologize for for anyone who is a fan of their recent albums, they think they're Gods among men just for winning a grammy about an album ripping on George Bush, like they were the first people ever to hate on him. That being said, I will admit that some of their newer songs are pretty solid(Like whatsername and such).

Than honestly tell me how metacritic can give ratings to artists?

If I were to believe a game that got a 1/10 on IGN or EGM was the greatest game in the world...would you tell me I was incorrect? If you did, you would be a hypocrite.

Gaming is an art-form just as much music or film is.

If we can judge books, games, film, and even art....than why can we not judge music the same way? Or is that too elite?
