Re: Classic Rock

Classical Rock?

My favourite is easily The Beatles. But I am also a big fan of The Beach Boys, The Who, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Led Zeppelin, Cat Stevens, The Guess Who, The Band, David Bowie, The Mamas and the Papas, Neil Young, Queen, Rush, etc etc.

I'm also a fan of other bands that don't fit into the 'rock' genre from the same era, but since they aren't classic 'rock,' then I suppose they wouldn't count.

I like stuff like The Moody Blues and Uriah Heep, but my full list contains the likes of Robin Trower, Toad, and a bunch of other bands that sadly no one has ever heard of.

Get yourself over to Youtube, man. It's a goldmine.

Re: Classic Rock

I wouldn't really consider pink floyd rock, it's more like progressive weed music.

led zeppelin is the best! achilles last stand, and battle for evermore are my favorite songs by them, followed by no quarter.

Re: Classic Rock

I'm sorry but I can't get into Led Zepplien or Pink Floyd. I like classic rock. And I think those two bands are really good musically. I just can't enjoy their music for some reason.

As for classic rock it's hard for me to know what time that really is. I mean are the Styx classic rock? David Bowie, Queen andRush are 4 I'm pretty sure are classic rock and i can name. I use pandora for almost all of my music so I can't name bands off that I really like

Re: Classic Rock

Wow. I'm in to classic rock as well. I have a radio station in my town that plays only classic rock, and every time I'm riding in the car, I always put it on. This genre of rock is awesome.

I like AC/DC, Guns n' Roses, Metallica (some don't consider Metallica classic rock, but I'll put it there anyway), The Who, The Guess Who, Aerosmith, Journey, The Eagles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Lynard Skynard, Led Zeppelin, The Black Crows, Black Sabbath (Some people say Black Sabbath isn't classic rock, but some do, so I'll put it here as well), Rush, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, ZZ Top, Bad Company, Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, Steve Miller Band, Styx, Kansas, Boston, and alot of others.

Probably my favorite album would be a tie between Appetite for Destruction or Use Your Illusion I, by Guns n' Roses, because both have such great tracks. On AFD, it has Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, and UYI1 has November Rain and Coma, and they're all just great songs. The guitar solo at the end of November Rain is just so epic, and catches the emotion of the song beautifuly, it has to be my favorite guitar solo of all time. Slash is just great with his guitar. Axl's voice is so edgy, it's awesome. The rest of the band is good too lolz.
Wow, great thread.

Metallica as classic rock? Never thought of that. I kinda put them in as heavy metal (at least for me). Awesome band whatever era of music you place them end.

Re: Classic Rock

You could say I'm quite the fan of classic rock. However, I don't listen to classic rock exclusively.

My favorite band is Led Zeppelin. I've never heard such a distinct catalog. Songs like D'yer Mak'er, Houses of the Holy, and Night Flight show how many styles they've tapped into. My favorites from them would have to be Black Dog, Over The Hills and Far Away, Houses of the Holy, and the Rain Song.

I'm also big fans of The Doors, Beatles, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, The Who, and David Bowie.

I put Metallica as a Classical because he had songs that were classic and were popular. I don't know if that group is Classic or not but I just probably named some of the groups that I liked. :/

To me, any rock from the 60's-80's is classic. But different kinds of classic. Hair bands, heavy metal, etc.

Re: Classic Rock

Okay that makes a lot more sense. Then I'd add The Cars to my list. There is a lot of other bands I know only by a few songs that I couldn't list (the downside with pandora). And HellsAngel I agree that a lot of Metallica songs are classic rock (and awesome). It always amazes me how old Metallica is and how fresh their songs still feel.

Re: Classic Rock

Bands: Steely Dan, Alan Parsons Project, Floyd, Boston, Bad Company, Beatles, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Frank Zappa (and the Mothers), Deep Purple, Eric Clapton (in any of his forms/bands), Styx, Kansas....

Yeah I like a lot of classic rock, and I guess I lean towards the progressive stuff.

Albums: Steely Dan's "Aja", "Countdown to ecstasy", and "Pretzeld Logic" (but they're all great!)
Genesis's "Trick of the Tail", Alan Parson's Project "Turn of a Friendly Card", and Frank Zappa and the Mothers' "Freak Out"

Songs: Steely Dan: The Caves of Altamira, King of the World, and Deacon Blues
Styx: Crystal Ball
Genesis: Squonk
Alan Parson's Project: Old and Wise, and Wouldn't Want to be Like You
Frank Zappa: Peaches En Regalia
Pink Floyd: Dogs and Shine on Crazy Diamond
