Concert Thread, Summer 2009!

Recently I've seen Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Wilco, Julie Doiron and Rick White (both formerly of Eric's Trip), One Hundred Dollars, Neko Case, and the Sadies a few times.

Stuff I'm seeing throughout the summer: Isis (tonight), Sonic Youth on June 30th, and M83 on July 17. Hoping some more shows will be announced, because usually I'd be going to a lot more.

God, I hate you. I want to see all the bolded bands, but especially Sonic Youth, live so bad.

Check out their tour schedule! They're playing in your state on July 23. They're brilliant live!

But in other news, I won't be making it to Isis tonight because of a vehicular malfunction. Not fun.

I wanna see Aerosmith when they come to town this week but I have no job and no job means no money.

I got to se Ammon Amarth, Goatwhore Skeleton witch and Lazerus AD on april 20th. it was awsome.

Green Day in July. Yay.

UPDATE: I will now potentially be seeing Tool on August 5th.

Ok, so saw Dave Matthews Band last night (the 9th). I was really busy for most of the night, though, so I didn't get to pay as much attention to the show as I did the last time I saw them. I can say that the crowd seemed much happier with the show this time around. One thing that sticks out is they did an awesome cover of "Burning Down the House."

Then tonight I saw the third concert of the summer that I actually wanted to go to, and wasn't getting paid to be there. There's a festival going on in Toronto right now called Luminato, and part of that was a tribute to the Neil Young "Live at Massey Hall" that was released a few years back now (though recorded all the way back in 1971). Featuring some of the best talent Canada has to offer, young and old, along with some guests from the US and even the UK recreating the seminal concert where Young performed many of his biggest hits for the first time, many before they were still only partially written. Most of the covers were amazing, some were good, only one or two were unimpressive.

Local shows mostly. I think i am going to see Leftover Crack on the 30th though.

Last night was at the New Kids on the Block concert, with Jabbawockeez (or something like that) and Jesse McCartney.

I worked gates the whole time, and left early because I asked for an early cut since I had to work early today. So I didn't see Jabbawockeez, which sucks because apparently they are an impressive dance troupe thing. I heard Jesse McCartney, and it sounded like boring uninspired mainstream pop sung to a backing track. I heard a little bit of New Kids and I suspect their sound man is deaf or something, because it sounded awful.

I'm not working The Fray/Jack's Mannequin tomorrow after all. Oh well.

Hmmmm. Well, I'll have to see if I can make a trip out of it. I could drive myself and I know a few Sonic Youth fans that would want to come with me.

I will see if I can even get the money.

I saw Sonic Youth at a festival thing a few years ago. wasn't too impresed. although, it was my first encounter with the band, so probably not the best way to hear them for the first time. I dind't care for the chick's voice. got annoying after 2 songs.

I wanted to go to a concert for my birthday, and when I saw August nine I was all like "SICK!" but then I looked at who was playing, and, well...
