THE GREATEST BAND TO COME OUT IN THE LAST DECADE!

Guys- music lovers.... check these guys out!! Listen to a few of their songs.

The band is Battles. start with a song called Tonto.

I'm in LOVE! ( I literally just discovered these guys about 10 minutes ago. I've never been so turned on so quickly by new music in my life!!

YouTube - Battles - Tonto (from the album Mirrored)

Has anyone here ever heard of this band?

The video hurts my eyes...

It sounded (is that a word?) mesy at first, but I got into it quickly.

Yes...

... and I must say, Atlas would be the perfect soundtrack to a Alice in Wonderland Rock Opera.

Re: I just discovered...

that was pretty cool, actually.

I get the feeling that people who usually only ever listen to streamlined, mainstream music won't be able to get it, but yeah, I really liked it.

Re: I just discovered...

My friend told me to listen to Atlas. I didn't care for it a whole lot, but it was moderately interesting, so I checked out some of their other stuff. I'm glad I gave them a chance.

Definately worth a listen or two. listen to 2 or three songs. they're quite diverse.

Re: I just discovered...

Not that amazing really. I don't care much for it...seems more like, blippity guitar, with decent drums/bass, but the singing is very "meh".

the way I think of the singing is that these guys are basically an instrumental band, and the vocals are simply used as another instrument, rather than a focal point on top of the musical accompaniment.

but hey- diff'rent strokes. At least you gave it a listen.

If mediocrity sounds like this, then I like it.

There are a lot of things I like about this band. I have to say that, while at very odd intervals I can find a select few of their motives slightly irritating, thankfully those moments are so few and far between that it really doesn't even mater.

I haven't had much time to listen them yet, but I'm really enjoying Rainbows. The section that starts at about 3:00 is just plain awesome.

I need to start listening to more math rock now.

Re: I just discovered...

I thoroughly enjoyed that. My only complaint is that I was anticipating the lyrics, ya know, decide whether or not I'd like them...and there was none.

Good find.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Re: I just discovered...

I listened to that one, and then "Rainbow" also. They've got some good grooves but the other stuff on top of the grooves was kinda... not my style. They're obviously an acquired taste. I'll give them a chance and look at some more of their stuff.
