Listen to only ONE band the rest of your life.

Ya know, I said Audioslave...but it's too damn hard. I came down to the conclusion that the 2 I'd have to choose between would be Audioslave for Bob Dylan. But even that's a hard choice. I'm glad I get variety. Oh well, it's between those 2 now. At first I said Audioslave but when I really think about it, they'd probably get kind of annoying...and I loves Bob Dylan.

Can I say anything with Jello Biafra?

Very true. But it seems that now a days, more and more songs are getting sadder and sadder. I hear maybe one classic rock song a month that's sad. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones.

Audioslave... and Bob Dylan? In the same sentence? That's a little weird, like there should be some kind of tear in the fabric of reality somewhere. Those two are the farthest apart I could possibly muster in my brain on the rock spectrum of things.

I really don't. Led Zeppelin's "D'yer Mak'er" is the only ska/dub/jamaica-ish type song I've heard, and it's not exactly a sad one. It's pretty pleasant actually. One of their better works. I love it. Does Dire Straits have anything that's ska-ish? I think they're more bluesy, but there might be some crossover there, so if one could call some of their songs ska, then I've heard many of their songs, and they're not very sad.

Also, Stones suck.

I could not agree more if I tried.

I just listened to that weird song called "testament" or whatever posted on the last page, and it was actually really good, I think I'll have to look into it some more.

Because I know what good music is. I don't care who you are or what type of music you sing, if you write good music, then I listen to it. I don't particularly like Nirvana, but I can admit that they've written 2 songs that I love. Music is music. Stop worrying about what artists or type you're listening to and just listen.

Rolling Stones? They're one of my top favorite bands.

I took that theory up a long time ago, and glad at least that some people understand that. Some of the people I've met... confuse me to say the least.

Only one artist?

Probably Ludovico Einaudi. I never tire of his works. They're beautiful.

But if it's band only, Foo Fighters. Their music spans many moods, and diversity within constraints is always a good thing.

I HATE it when people ask me what type of music I like. I generally ignore them or say everything...but when I say everything they insist that I elaborate, and I don't want to because obviously if they're asking me what type of music I like, they don't understand.

Oh man do those people anger me. I had no idea what to say to them for several years before I just adopted the "I listen to whatever makes me tap my foot" retort.

I don't think that I could live with just one band the rest of my life. I know classic rock fans are annoying, but those bands laid the foundations for rock music now, you have to give them some props.

The stones suck? Are you serious? I have just about every song that those guys put out and I have to say that I consider the majority of it good. (although "sympathy for the devil" just bugs me)

Yea, I hate when people ask me what kinda music I like, my tastes are everywhere, with my fav being some prog and early hard rock. After that its prolly electonica or punk. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

My favorite band right now is still Vampire Weekend. I've listen to that CD through at least once a week since I picked it up like 7 months ago. I've been listening to Quadrophenia and Pink Floyd alot too lately.

I would prolly have to go with Led Zeppelin or the Who, both of those bands were my favs when I started getting into music.

Honestly, I need all my music. But if I have to choose... then The American Analog Set. Simply because Promise of Love is a brilliant album and they have a large backlog of music.

I don't get that. There must be one overwhelming style of music that you like. I've not yet met one person who listens to "everything" (usually people who say that are just ignorant of music outside the mainstream)

Why should somebody be able to understand your music listening habits just by looking at you?

'Lyricist' implies that the person writes only the lyrics. 'Songwriter' implies that they write both the music and lyrics. Though I believe it can also imply that they just write the music. I know some bands have a primary songwriter, but then a different band member writes the lyrics and melody. I even know one band that has a lyricist and then the rest of the band works out the music and melody later.

I know he wasn't "wrong." But the proper term is lyricist. And lyricist doesn't imply that. I beleive I could prove it with logic and a truth table but I'd rather not get into that. In any case, lyricist sounds better to me, and it is the proper term so I informed him.

Deciding that a word is more valid that a synonym of that word for no reason, eh? It's good to see people at least coming up with new ways to sound pretentious in the music section >_>
