Best Rock band ever?

Tie Between Metallica and Guns N Roses. But metallica isn't Rock It's metal and so is Guns and roses...Sooo Rock? Rock Rock would be like Rolling Stones.

He is such an amazing storyteller, guitar/piano player, singer, and music composer. The White Stripes belong right up in that list with the rest of all of the classic rock.

As for best rock band, I'm going to say, in terms of influence and musical talent The Who, closely followed by Led Zep and The Beatles (I don't particularly like the latter, but you can't deny the influence they've had on music, or their songwriting talent)

I'd have to say Pink Floyd, their music is pure art.

Also, Metallica is metal, but Metal is a type of rock, so technically they can be on the poll. And Metallica used to be great, but after St. Anger and Lars becoming a douche bag everything went downhill for them. Hopefully their new album will redeem themselves.

But if The Beatles were on there I would choose them right away.

Susprised no one has mentioned Faith No More, when it comes to being influential Rock Band,

Out of that list Rock it would be Led Zeppelin, while Metal would be of course Black Sabbath. I listen to music from all those bands there along with Boston, Deep Purple, Def Leppard and of course The Who.

The Melvins influenced grunge far more than Nirvana ever did, and were far, far better.

Greenriver and the Beatles influenced it even more. And I am not saying I like Nirvana but they are a hell of a lot better than the Melvins

I would say Led Zeppelin (being completely biased, here). In the case of "most influential", though, probably The Beatles or Elvis Presley.

Well 'best' shouldn't apply because for every band out there, there is someone who thinks they're the best band ever, so it's differing opinions.

I'd say most influential is a good argument, but at the same time, Nickelback have influenced a bunch of kids I know to go out and try and be in a band, so I would reckon that's not what everybody is going for with this thread.
