Saddest Songs Yet

There are many songs in which make a person feel sad, gloomy, ect.

What are some songs that were soo powerful that you almost/, did cry/hade a tear that was from extream tragicness.
I do not cry easily but this song really did make med cry, though I tried to to show it I did cry. Even me, a persom who's heart has been dried up from disuse of emotions can cry.
(Note, I know that I could put more on the topic but I did not choose to do so (for some reason).

THE SONG THAT MADE ME CRY INSIDE (THINK OF PAST/CURRENT WARS)
'Hands Held High' Lyrics- Linkin Park
(The middle is the past part of all so lisen to all of it if you have not already).

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

Lyrics usually never get to me.

However, many songs bring back painful memories for me. One example being "Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles." My friend died and that was his favorite song... It's just weird when I here that song and my friend's not there.

Just weird.

Edit: That one song about a guy who wants to be like his dad but his dad ditched him made my dad cry though. So I think it's sad. The one about the cat and the cradle.

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

The song "One Bedroom Apartment" by Clann Zu is extremely sad. I'll post a few lyrics but you should definitely listen to it for the full effect. Its really powerful.

A man sits naked in the middle of a room of a one bedroom apartment in new york city
and no one knows he's there and no ones left to care whether or not the next drop comes out.
And the blood would be warm and the blood would hug him just like she used to before she left him in this ****ing mess
where only one sentence repeats itself.
And this is it, it says I will never love again.

And on the fifth day he placed everything he owned in the centre of the room and he watched it burn
as he recited all the beautiful words that had ever come out her mouth.
And these are the same words that mock him now and tell him that she is not coming back
that he is nothing not worth a **** and only one sentence repeats itself.
I will never love again.

And for the first time in 25 years he cried rivers of black ****ty oil
that careered down his chest as the dam to his past broke,
exploding, and its sinking all of his future now.
And that was then and this is now
as the animals reach their fever pitch
and the windows implode in silence
out of respect for the dying out of respect for the dead.
I will never love again.

The Song "Uncle Hubert" by Martin Swinger. It made everyone in my 4th grade, including me, cry. Either that or "I'll Stand by You" by whatever her name is.

Hm, well, for some reason I know there are probably songs that are sadder than this, but this song is just pretty somber.

Back in the day when Greenday was good.

The saddest song I have heard in awhile is

Linkin Park -- in the end. I suppose it has alot to do with how I am feeling right about now as well.

Whiskey Lullaby

Title: Brad Paisley - Whiskey Lullaby (Featuring Alison Krauss)
Artist: Brad Paisley

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

1st Chorus
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

(Sing lullaby)

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

2nd Chorus
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

I think this is the saddest song I've heard. Watching the video makes it sadder.

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

The saddest song I've ever heard would probably have to be Coldplay's Sparks. That one always gets me. I can't even listen to it without more or less bursting into tears.

Lately though, Will by the Dresden Dolls. That song is just so... well, sad. Painfully so.

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

This one girl who I've recently met has been sending me these song links on youtube... I've never heard the songs before, but they're pretty high up there. though I havn't creid, but it's still some intense stuff.

YouTube - Concrete Angel - A song about a mother abusing her daughter... The ending is.. well watch

YouTube - Frankie J - Daddy's Little girl - A song about losing your dad.

But those are two of the inks she sent me. there was also that Whiskey lullaby song too, but someone but that up already.

'The Ghost of You' by My Chemical Romance. I don't care how hated the band is, how dare anyone say that song, or that video, is bad. Has me in tears almost everytime I see it.

The video itself is a depiction of the invasion of Normandy Beach, and the soldiers that gave the ultimate sacrifice on that day. Just watch it if you've never seen it before. I guarantee you'll get something from it.

My main issue with that video is the same as Ed the Sock's. The whole idea of the music video of 'War is bad and people die' is a little overdone.

As for myself. Well, there's going to be a lot of overlap in the songs in this post. But some additional ones...

"Guernica" by Brand New. I haven't been able to listen to this song since my grandfather died over the summer. Used to be one of my favourite songs, but I just can't listen to it anymore.

"Polaris" by Jimmy Eat World. The line at the end of the song (also the last line of the chorus) is just delivered in a way that is heartbreaking.

Pretty much everyting else is on the list in the linked post.

I love that song. It's my favorite off of Futures.

Here's another sad song.

I haven't notice anyone mention the "Dead Puppies" song. You can't get much sadder than that... (Nor funnier...)

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

There's a lot of country songs that I think are sad.

Anything by Evanscence depresses me. That's why I refrain from listening to them.

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

I remember the first time I saw the 'Mockingbird' video from Eminem, it was also pretty sad.

And Gale, that's understandable. I just don't like those who critisize it just because it's from that band.

Re: Saddest Songs Yet

Linkin Park makes some sad songs. Notably, "Crawling", "Papercut", "What I've Done", "In the End", and so on.
I nearly cried when I first heard "Mad World" by Gary Jules. For those who are less than familiar, it is from the trailer of Gears of War.
