What Type of Instrument Do You Play?

If you play more than one type, just pick the one you enjoy most or are best at. As for me, I play electric/acoustic guitar.

I play bass. I play string bass (the big wooden upright ones) as well as bass guitar. I like both, and overall, I love the deep sounds the bass produces. I prefer to play jazz and modern orchestral music on my string bass and I play rock on my bass guitar in a small garage band.



above is a picture of my string bass. It is a custom made upton hybrid. It's got a pickup so it can be amped and a fully carved top. It's really nice and produceds amazing tone.

above is a picture of my bass guitar, it is a standard ibanez soundgear GR, has one J and one split P pickup. It's nothing fancy really.

I can play more than one instrument, but my main one is the clarinet. I'm in an all woodwind class for band.

My "main" insturment would be guitar, which I greatly enjoy playing as a hobby. I picked it up after playing guitar was part of my middle school music program, and took lessons until I finished high school. But since I learned pretty much all the theory behind that specific instrument, I can pretty much teach myself any song I feel like playing (sometimes with the aid of some transcribed music, sometimes not) with enough practice.

I took piano lessons for something like six years when I was younger, and it was really good not just as a first instrument to learn, but it taught me pretty much everything about music theory and reading actual sheet music. I still like to noodle around on keyboards or pianos when I get the chance. I'd really like to get a moog.

I played clarinet for a year in high school, but it wasn't really my thing. I don't have too much interest in playing band/orchestral instruments, though I wouldn't mind being able to play the fiddle (which falls into that category I guess).

I've self-taught myself how to play electric bass and mandolin. I'm no expert (those are actually my brother's two primary instruments, so I play them about as well he can play guitar, which isn't badly, but we certainly aren't on the same level), but I'm passable.

I'd really love to learn the banjo and accordian, as well as get better at mandolin.

I play drums and guitar. I'm still learning to play guitar, but it's my favorite.

wow, You sure do play alot of instruments. You must be very good at reading music. Keyboard incorperates both cleffs ( Treble and Bass) so After 6 years of it I'm sure you could read just about anything. I to can self teach myself most songs. I have a natural talent that I can hear something and then play it (unless of course it's something very complex). I could never play the mandolin. I tried one at a guitar center, the frets are just too tiny for me. But mandolin is a very cool instrument.

That's excellent! It's a very good skill to be able to learn a piece of music by rote. It means you have a good ear.

I have played the violin for 11 years, the guitar for 6, I have studied voice for 3, and I just recently picked up the piano and a little organ. I'm currently a Music Performance for violin at UW Milwaukee. Generally, I practice about 3 hours a day on my main instrument, but I've been trying to bump it up to 4 because I've hit a block right now and I'm progressing very slowly.

Anyways, that's what I play and stuff. So yeah.

Well thats unfair, my main is Woodwind and I play several, but I play several Brass too. heh, oh well. I'm a music major, what can you expect. :XD

There is a hand bell choir in my school, and I'm it, so I guess I play hand bells too.

I started playing guitar a while back, but stopped. Now that I started again I feel I'm slowly getting better. I also received an electric guitar (Yamaha, but not sure what model. I still need to read up on that) for Christmas. So far I can only play 2 EASY AS HELL songs, which apparently isn't an achievement of any sort, but I'm hoping that I could get one level higher in my self-teaching. I'm also deciding to take up drums with the guitar playing, and maybe bass when I can get both instruments down, and maybe I can make my own music or something (a guy can dream, can't he?)

By the way, since some of you can play guitar a whole lot better than me, does anyone know how to do pinch harmonics, a.k.a "squealies"? People tell me it's easy, but I'm having trouble. Any help would be nice.

after you pluck it with the pick, you tap it with your thumb. Like hold the pick on the bottom and pluck it both your pick and thumb nearly at the same time.

Ooh, this thread is relevant to my intrests.

My main instruments are percussion keyboards (Marimba, xylo, vibes, etc.) and the Accordion. (Accordion, by the way, is the most fun instrument you can ever play. It's just awesome.) Basically I can play everything with a keyboard on it except piano. For some reason, I've never taken lessons or whatnot for Piano. Odd.

I can also play rather well on the guitar, mandolin, soprano ukulele, bass, harmonica, drumset, and... uh, cowbell.

Now if only I could sight read that pesky music. I have an unnaturally good ear for music, but can barely read at a pace faster than a turtle when attempting to -_-.

I play the drums. And have done for some time now.
