What Type of Instrument Do You Play?

i prefer to sing myself, i think i have too much of a short attension span to learn an instrument like guitar(my bros are awsome at the guitar,wish i was!) but im thinkin of playing the drums

i have a drum kit and keyboard which i love
i can also play some bass and acoustic/electric guitar
but my fave is my synthesizer =]
i can also sing/scream/growl etc.
i sing and play synth in my band =]

I play the flute, yeah i know I'm boring.

I picked other, because I play piano, guitar, and flute, and I'm probably best level-wise at flute, but I like playing piano and singing the best. My guitar just sorta hangs about waiting for inspiration. I love it though.

I'd consider myself multi-instrumental.
I know how to use Synths, Folk instruments(hurdy gurdy FTW), a various array of guitars, and percussion.
And of course my own voice.

I voted for "other" because of the fact that I don't play anything except air guitar.

I (used to) play the Flute. Just a normal SHINY flute.

I play a little electric guitar, hobby only though.

I play piano by ear ^^

But I want to learn music some day

I never said you should ONLY learn those. Just that if you can learn to play in B and E flat than you can play in most other keys. For instance, on stringed instruments, transposing is quite easy. exactly, like I said, for a string player, it's not too difficult. Maybe for a brass or woodwing player it would be difficult though.

yeah seriously. to play jazz you need to know every scale in every key, and you need to know every scale degree perfectly by heart, you need to know how to harmonize chords on the spot, etc. you can't play jazz just knowing an e flat blues scale :| i guess you could but a real jazz player would laugh at you ,

you don't need to know EVERY key. There's lots of keys and scales that will almost NEVER apear in jazz. You make it sound much harder than it is to do an improvisation.

I play the Piano/Electric Keyboard and I also can play the guitar a little bit.
I also play Zelda melodies too.

Well, yeah. But I don't play strings, so I can't really do that on my chosen instrument. Even though it is basically the same thing on Vibes, except you just move each note from the scale down a bar to shift a half step, etc.

That's what I was refering too. Strings were basically MADE for transposition. On woodwinds and horns it's slightly different changing such things. I'm assuming you're a string player yourself?
