Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

Modest Mouse.

And no, not just their new ****. And no, all their new **** ain't bad. It's all quite good, really. Although, the new EP of theirs is seeming to be quite a let-down from the songs I've heard that will be on it. Quite underwhelming. But they need a place in the Hall of Fame.

And, just to specify, my favorite LPs in order:
1. The Lonesome Crowded West (Noteworthy- Teeth Like God's Shoeshine, Doin' the Cockroach, and Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice on Ice, Alright. Duds- Bankrupt on Selling)
2. The Moon and Antarctica (Noteworthy- Gravity Rides Everything, The Stars Are Projectors, and What People Are Made Of. Duds- None. Closest though, would be Perfect Disguises. But only because it's in the way of Tiny Cities Made of Ashes)
3.We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (Noteworthy- Dashboard, Parting of the Sensory, and Invisible. Duds-Steam Engenius)
4. This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (Noteworthy- Dramamine, Tundra/Desert, and Make Everyone Happy/Mechanical Birds. Duds- Novocain Stain)
And last, but cetainly not bad,
5. Good News For People Who Love Bad News (Noteworthy- Ocean Breathes Salty, Bukowski, and The Good Times Are Killing Me) (Duds- Horn Intro. It's only nine seconds.)

Other favorite bands (in no particular order):
Of Montreal
Frightened Rabbit
M83
The White Stripes
Grizzly Bear

To name a few. There are many more, but they currently escape me as I am not on my computer, with all my music. Good enough, though.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

another new fav band...KoRn...i can't believe i'm saying this...i love Korn, a band i've spent tha last few years bashing and hating on(believing that their songs were all like Twisted Transistor.
But after swapping iPods with a guy during math class or something, i secretly liked the Korn songs he had...and now i bought their first album, which has to be one of the best all round records i've ever heard.
PHEW! now, i feel much better outside the Korn closet.

(Best songs: Blind, Divine, Faget, Shoots and Ladders, Trash)

Great tastes Lunchbox.
I've gotta go with Radiohead for my all time favorite. Saves the Day, The Beatles, Daphne Loves Derby are some other big ones that I haven't listened to all that much lately. Recently I've been digging lots of Beirut, Neutral Milk Hotel, mewithoutYou, stuff like that.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

There was a time when I'd post an updated list every year here. Starting way back in 2003, there's a huge chunk of bands I don't listen to from that list anymore, there's some I still listen to and love, and there's some that I stopped listening to, but have started again. Also, I apparently thought NOFX was breaking up, which means apparently I was an idiot.

Then in 2005 I started doing a more ranked style than just a simple list. The 'Absolute Favourites' but isn't entirely correct anymore. It's probably bigger, but The Used isn't on there anymore. Also, it is minuscule compared to today.

2006 brought more ranks, and many more bands. Things have shifted around quite a bit since then, as partially evidenced by the 2007 list.

So lets take a look at where things stand in 2009 then.

Absolute Favourites (No order)
Less Than Jake
Barenaked Ladies
The Beatles
Great Big Sea
New Found Glory
mewithoutYou
Motion City Soundtrack

Favourites (Somewhat ranked)
Brand New
As Tall as Lions
Tegan and Sara
Arcade Fire
The Gaslight Anthem
Lupe Fiasco
Jimmy Eat World
Joshua Radin
R.E.M.
Counting Crows
Copeland
Simon & Garfunkel
Paramore
Forgive Durden
The White Stripes
The Format
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's
Kanye West
Gym Class Heroes
Sufjan Stevens
Hanson
Good Old War
Rx Bandits
Cary Brothers
Moneen
blink-182
Valencia
Okkervil River
The Mountain Goats
Metric
Broken Social Scene
Alanis Morissette
Arab Strap
The Used
Beck
The Offspring
The Band
Ben Harper
Fall Out Boy
The Academy Is...
Gordon Lightfoot

I listen to plenty more, but those are just some of my favourites.

My three main favorite bands are The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse and Queen. I listen to the three of them more frequently than anything else. But I'm also a pretty large fan of Ben Folds, Pink Floyd and The Beatles.

The Peppers are my current favorite among my favorites. They have three extremely talented members, and then there's Anthony Keidas, who just has great chemistry with Frusciante, so it works out.

What's your favorite album by them?
