Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

Just a few, and out of those few, I only like one of their songs at the moment:

Breaking Benjamin
Yoko Kanno
Orange Range
Trapt
Puddle of Mudd
Prodigy
Dragonforce
Guns 'n Roses
Linkin Park(!)

Well, at the moment, those are the only ones worth mentioning.

EDIT: [07:00] Radkin_Blade: Yoko Kanno
[07:00] Radkin_Blade: Orange Range
[07:01] Radkin_Blade: Flow
[07:03] Radkin_Blade: L'arc-en-ciel
[07:04] Radkin_Blade: Dream
[07:04] Radkin_Blade: Basicly all the Japanese artists I like.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

Queen is my favorite band. Even now, with Paul Rodgers (who I have recently come to peave with), they make some great songs that rock.

Scorpions is also one of my favorites, along with Toto (they're both still around - did you know that?)

Queen is pretty amazing.

I have the most respect for a band called The Starting Line, but I'm really into N.E.R.D. right now.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

Man, I haven't listened to TSL in ages. Even moreso, I haven't listened to them since Say it Like You Mean it. "Best of Me" is my high school song, though.

I remember all the buzz over the their big announcement months back, and it just turned out to be them saying they were going on hiatus or whatever. Even though I haven't listened to them other than that one early album, it was still a bit of a bummer.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

Direction is amazing, you should definitely pick it up. If you watched the four part video about why they were going on hiatus over at AbsolutePunk.net you'd see why the hiatus was such a big deal, record company being totally retarded.

Also, his [Kenny Vasoli] side band, Person L, is releasing an EP soon. It's pretty amazing from what I've heard of it.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

Huh. I'll have to watch those videos...are/were they still on Drive-Thru, or did they get picked up by a major ever? I remember watching the "Best of Me" video on the Drive-Thru site over and over again, the original one, that is. I've been getting CDs like crazy this summer (woo job spend all money on music and not on tuition!), so I'll check out Directions when I get a chance.

Re: Official Favourite Band/Artist Thread

I think the videos were AbsolutePunk exclusive, and finding old stuff there is a real *****. But basically, the record company wasn't releasing any of the songs off the album as singles, even though there were several that would have done amazing. Their song Island was a single on a few rock radio stations I believe, and it did amazing, topped charts, but the company just stopped after that. They called the album "dead in the water."

I've become a master of searching AP.net over the years, so I found them last night, and stayed up until 2 am watching them (probably not the wisest choice, but meh). That is a bit of a dick move, it sucks when a record gets no label support, but these things happen. I listened to "Islands" and it definately had potential to be successful, but I wouldn't put money on it. I can't count the number of times I've thought a single would be huge and it never even registers as a blip.

Still, listening to the music that played during those videos has convinced me it's time to get reaquainted with The Starting Line.

Yeah, their new stuff is a new kind of good compared to the old stuff. And Person L is definitely different, but definitely just as good.
