I have officially lost my faith in Weezer

So...they're coming out with a new album in a few days, and honestly, after hearing their new single, I had some hopes. Maybe not great hopes, but I was hoping maybe it'd be a little modest, or would at least keep a recurring sound, like the Green Album had. However, I just discovered this new song that's on the album:

Can't Stop Partying - Weezer featuring Lil' Wayne

...well...see you Weezer, you're no longer my favorite band. Weezy and Weezer do not belong together. This song was specially designed to be on the radio, and shows that Weezer just want to make money and don't care about their fans. 311 is officially my favorite band now. I'm not so much torn up, just disappointed. I mean, I knew the new album wouldn't be any good (especially with only a 16 month gap since Red Album, which sucked.) but I never knew they would go THIS low. I still love Weezer, but it's more of a "respect because they used to be good" thing rather than an "I enjoy listening to them" kind of thing. Thoughts?

Re: I have officially lost my faith in Weezer

I hate Little Wayne.
There's a few songs I don't mind, but if you need to sing into a fan, you're no good to me.

Granted, studio albums mess with the voices a bit, but if your normal voice isn't good enough to use, screw you.

Way to go Weezer. You lost 2. How many more will you lose?

To be fair, I actually enjoy Raditude more than the Red Album and Maladroit. It's just this one song that bothers me. The songs on this album, for the most part, are superior to the Red Album, what kills me inside so much about it is that it is NOT Weezer. Every fan knows that Weezer have lost their identity since Green Album and Maladroit. The album is a step in the right direction following the Red Album, but the song featuring Lil' Wayne just sends them in the opposite direction. This album actually has some fun to it, but every Weezer fan knows that this is what "Weezer" is NOT.

They're selling out. Don't act like it's Lil Wayne's fault. The man has a cameo in just about every song that came out this year.

I think it's a bit better than the Red Album, and there are still some fun songs on the record ("I'm Your Daddy" is pretty catchy), but I do agree that Ratitude is nothing like their earlier stuff, which I think is much better.
And that song would be alright without Lil Wayne, but it's still pretty weak.

Everyone just shut up and listen to Blind Guardian. Simple as that.

I hated that band when I saw it on the music channel.

Yes, because Blind Guardian is definitely in the same genre and overall scene as Weezer is, and as such, Weezer fans are likely to find Blind Guardian to be a much better incarnation of that same musical vision. Totally.

Re: I have officially lost my faith in Weezer

I was SO EXCITED for the Red Album after Hearing Pork and Beans. I mean, I loved Maladroit and Make Believe (the green album was definitely their weakest effort before Red, as EVERY SINGLE guitar solo on that album was exactly the same as the chorus) standing even now as their least inspired album, but this... I don't even have anything to be excited about.

And, unrelated:

Pinkerton > Blue >>>> Make Believe >> Maladroit >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Green >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Red

(of course, I'll still buy it, since I always have hope that weezer will suddenly spring back to their older sounds and have just been ****ing with us for thirteen years.)

If you want my honest opinion, Raditude is the best Weezer album since Pinkerton if you exclude the Lil' Wayne song. It's less experimental than Red and more of an upbeat, catchy vibe. It reminds me A LOT of Make Believe, but to some extent, more fun. I'm just really angsty about the Lil' Wayne song, like, what will album 8 be like? Weezer ft. T-Pain and Drake? Come on.

I'm Your Daddy, Love is the Answer, and my personal favorite, Let It All Hang Out, are great tracks.

I haven't heard Raditude. Since I've always bought the actual store releases of Weezer albums for some reason, I don't yet own it.

Re: I have officially lost my faith in Weezer

Uhm, I'm not a large Weezer fan, I like them and all, but I don't love them or anything. And when it comes to Weezy, I hold the belief that he's overrated, but certainly not terrible or bad. I mean...he's okay. I wouldn't buy an album of his but I don't mind his music. However, it seems a little odd to say that your favorite band is no longer your favorite band because they did a song with Lil Wayne or because it's marketed towards the radio. Now, I also don't like it when songs are particularly made for the radio and to make money, I don't, sure, but I don't see how that warrants them to no longer be your favorite band. If Modest Mouse purposely made a song for the radio that's super catchy and somewhat annoying that doesn't have the lyrical charm that their songs normally have, I would just skip it on their next album (unless I did actually like it despite all that), I wouldn't lose my faith in them because they're still an amazing band that I've come to adore.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

It's not the same, because Weezer isn't as good to begin with.

Really, all the haters in this thread must have missed something. Just because it features a cameo from Lil Wayne doesn't magically make it more of a sell-out made for radio song than Troublemaker.

Well, it's kind of a bitter thing to swallow, after their hit Pork and Beans from the Red Album satirically mentions "Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the chart/Maybe if I work with him I can perfect the art", and then turn around and (essentially) do exactly that.

It's possible Lil' Wayne just charmed them into it. He is a rather dynamic little fellow.

I don't like Weezer very much at all.

Who's to say? Maybe they legitimately feel it's an accurate depiction of their artistic vision.

I mean probably not, but yeah.
