First Concert experience
Just as the title says, how was your first concert and what band/artist was it?
My father took me to see the Steve Miller Band for my 16th birthday and it was aswome. We got to Ironstone Vineyards and the Nats were everywhere as soon as you steped on to the grass, and with every step afterwards, they just filled the air and was really anoying but they soon settled down as the sun went down but then even bigger bugs came out but no as much force as the Nats. There was this guy sitting about 25-30 feet in front of us and through the lights from the stage you could see these bigs just swarming around his head and he didn't even budge, it was amazing how tolerent he was to these bugs. Then the show started and everyone started to cheer, the poeple next to us were passing around a joint, and you could hear everyone shouting what song they wanted to hear. It was a great experience.

Re: First Concert experience
My first concert was a Wierd Al concert, although, that wasn't as 'concerty' as the Dream Theater show I saw, which was part of Prog Nation I think, I got to see 3, Between the Buried and me, Opeth, and DT. Last two were epic, that's what I consider my first legit concert.

Avril Lavigne. *coolface*
It wasn't very good. She forgot the lyrics a few times. I think I was maybe ten at the time? Possibly younger.

Re: First Concert experience
Nightwish playing a pretty small venue at some club in Scottsdale... crowd had to be around 100 people. Might have lacked the HUGE crowd aesthetic, but it was still very much like being at a normal-sized concert, it was just smaller scale. Lots of headbanging and cheering to be had! Totally badass that my mom went with me since I was 15 at the time, too. She's not into metal... at all, really, but actually liked the band, citing Tarja's voice as beautiful. Can't deny that!

Three Days Grace Lol, Alex This was a couple years ago now. Though, the vocal work isn't as good as it is on the album, they still put on a fun show.
Anyone seen Ozzy? I havn't ever been to one of his concerts, but from what i've seen on TV, he puts on a good show.

Re: First Concert experience
I saw Barenaked Ladies when I was ten at a festival of sorts a local radio station used to do every year on Labour Day weekend. My dad took me as my birthday present, so I'll always remember I was exactly ten years old.
It was pretty sweet, from what I remember. We didn't get very close to the stage, but these people in front of us let me stand on their big food cooler thing so I could still see. I distinctly remember them playing "Jane." |

Hah! Same!
And I don't go to very many concerts. I always look up my favorite artists tours and stuff, but I never seem to go.

Re: First Concert experience
My first concert was a Fall Out Boy concert. The show was good, the venue was bad. It is an absolutely horrible idea to make an entire venue be general admission. Me and my friend both got in line early enough to get pit passes (First 100 people in line got them. Tee Hee), but I saw people getting into fist fights on who would get the best seats in the venue and so forth.
Other than that, the show was pretty awesome. Halfway through I ended up going to the back of the pit because of some drunk guys in the crowd kept touching me in the wrong way. Fall Out Boy were pretty decent live, although they were trying to put some 'message' in the show by wearing different costumes and having little videos periodically, but I don't think everybody got the message.

Freddy or no Freddy?
Hmmm..my first ever concert? I cant really remember. I guess seeing Starship at a fair or something. I saw countless punk rock shows. The first punk show i attended was in 1996 and AFI was headlining. God awful show but i went because the openers were these guys i knew. AFI was terrible and kept insulting my town. I hated them ever since. First arena rock show was Pearl Jam, Yield tour 1998. THAT WAS AWESOME! I wasnt in the pit or nothin, but i was still overjoyed to finally be seeing one of my favorite bands. I saw them again in 2003. Still pretty epic. First real metal show was in 2003 with Nevermore and Dimmu Borgir (Children of Bodom and Hypocrisy opened). Oh gods that show was so much fun!

Re: First Concert experience
Last year Boston came to our county fair and it was pretty awesome. Even though most of the members aren't the original ones, they still sounded quite the same and I was pretty impressed! Probably the best concert I've been to (mainly because it is the only one I have been to).

Re: First Concert experience
First concert was Taking Back Sunday, although I actually played a small venue (my high school Battle of the Bands) before that. It was fun, but only because I knew all the words. Not much activity besides jumping.
Lately I've been attending more heavy concerts, and experiencing the beauty of mosh pits and their surrounding areas. It's fun just to get lost in the groove of a heavy beat and start dancing/getting the ♥♥♥♥ beat out of you. |

Re: First Concert experience
My first 'show' was at the Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huckjam. CKY was there. They suck.
The first show that was actually a show was Collective Soul, a $3 entry for charity show in Washington D.C. in the middle of a street at a festival. Just happened to be going on during a road trip. First show I went to that I actually went to myself for the band, would be Franz Ferdinand, and that was great. They were touring for the second album, but played nine out of eleven songs on the first. God, it was good. And, my favorite song of theirs, 40', they played absolute ♥♥♥♥ last. I nearly came. ![]()
