Need some help with Piano...
I'm pretty sure that this is the right section to post this in. Anyways, recently I've taken up playing piano, but I haven't done much yet. I know where all the keys are by memory, and I can read sheet music, but I always run into the same problem for every song: I can't use my left hand in tune with my right hand.
Any tips/tricks/practices I should do to improve on this? I know, practice makes perfect, but I don't know how. Thanks in advance, still <3 you ZU.

Re: Need some help with Piano...
Well, it seems that you don't have good hand coordination? Not really sure what they would call that kind of situation. ;P
You can start with smaller simpler pieces of music that requires both hands to play. I'm more than positive there's books out there that teach these things, cause I have one. But anyways! Yeah. That's all I can really think to help you. Best of luck! ;3 EDIT: Also, I think this thread belongs in the Music & Musician thread.

Re: Need some help with Piano...
I've taken piano lessons about 3 weeks ago, and with this I think I can help.
What my teacher makes me do is play the C scale first with my right hand, and then with my left. When you can fluently play the C scale with your right hand, practice extensively with your left, and then play 2 octaves when you think you've gotten better playing one. There is a certain way to play in terms of which finger plays what key in the scale, but I'm pretty sure you know that by now. Best of luck.

Re: Need some help with Piano...
When learning a piece of music, play only the top bit (the line you would play with your right hand) until you have that down. Then do the same with your left. Put them together and there you go. That's how I learned piano way back when I took lessons.
There was probably some beginner exercises as well that I can't remember. So I'll just also add that start off simple. Grab a beginners book or something and go from there. |
