Re: Best Album Covers
Good thread idea, but the following things should be considered before posting.
1) Try to say a few words as to why you like that particular cover. Sometimes its hard to put it into words, but try anyway. 2) Keep images a reasonable size. Sure, the forums do autoscale images, but they still load to their full size. Be nice to those with slower connections and try to use smaller images, or maybe even links. Also I believe that each post can only have up to ten images. I'll post my own list later. |

Re: Best Album Covers
![]() I really love this cover, because it kind of gives off this happy-go-lucky sort of feel. The music on the album also sort of fits this feel, but when you dig into the meaning behind all the songs and lyrics, this is quite the deep, emotional, personal album. I get the same kind of vibe from the band's frontman's new band fun.'s album cover. ![]() This cover's awesome because it can be interpreted so many ways. My friend saw this cover as the frontman being incapable of finding someplace to hide. I saw it as the frontman being symbolic of the band's music, and being in a museum setting it's them kind of showing that they're putting art out there to be judged. ![]() This one I just like. I can't think of a deeper meaning, I just enjoy Luke Chueh. And those are some of my favorite album covers. |

Re: Best Album Covers
I guess I just think this one looks cool. Not really anything particularly deep about it. It is a concept album, after all. ![]() This is a great cover because it shows all these completely random animals that are in some way part of the human condition. Though they all are not known to love one another, they are here sharing a space peacefully. Each song in this album is named after an animal, and the structure of the songs relates that animal to the life of the lead man through the mannerisms of the animal. |

Re: Best Album Covers
'Don't ask. I don't know why. I just love this cover. ![]() This one just looks cool and I love Dylan's hat in it. Everytime I think of the Gorillaz I think of this cover. Each of the members are drawn rather well on this cover and I just love it. ![]() This is another one that I don't really know why. I just like it. ![]() It looks so cool and it's such a sexy cover. <3 this cover. ![]() I can't even explain it. This cover just sticks out in my mind. It fits (some of) the album so well, really. ![]() It's not the case, really, that I love, it's the complete package. I have the deluxe version of this album and all of it is just so cool. The outer box (the part you see there) is like...it's hard to explain. You need to own it to know, I guess. ![]() This is the only album cover of all time that's actually nostalgic to me. ![]() Such a sexy cover

The 'stunt man' on the cover is made up of a variety of different pictures, five of which are of different parts of the five different band members. They have a lot of great covers, but so far this is their best. ![]() In the world of iconic album covers, you don't get much more iconic than this. Infinitely copied and parodied, infinitely debated over in terms of hidden meanings. I like line drawings. This one has lots of good stuff to look at and muse over as you listen to the record. ![]() When you undertake the task of writing an album inspired by a single state, there's probably an infinite number of things you could put on the cover. Sufjan Stevens managed to find the perfect ones. ![]() Something that not many album covers manage to do is capture the feel and sound of an album. Obviously its hard to put sounds into visuals. Examining this cover gives you the perfect idea of what awaits. A layered and complex soundscape that is somehow still soft and welcoming. There is just something familiar about this album cover. Even before I knew about the band who put it out or the music contained on the album within, I felt like I had seen the image somewhere before. Another one of those really iconic covers. ![]() In terms of band logos, I think this is one of the better ones I've come across. Surprising, since the band had several before and this was one that came along late in their career. Still, it simply blew all previous ones out of the water. It simply manages to embody the band while still remaining somewhat abstract. ![]() Some may remember that this and several variations of it were my avatar for some time in the past. There was a reason. ![]() I like it when sometimes the cover an album doesn't say the title or the band name, when it is just an image on its own. This is another one of those pictures that just fits the sound of the album, and is also one where you could even try to read deeper meaning into it based on the contents of the album. You have to wonder what the person who took the picture was trying to convey with it, what story they were trying to tell. ![]() I am pretty sure that Vasily Kafanov does the covers for all of mewithoutYou's albums, and all of them are great, but this one is my favourite. It pictures the overall themes of the album quite well. More to come, but I'm out of space in this post. |

Re: Best Album Covers
![]() Subject matter makes it automatically the best. The aesthetic can be roughly described as the reincarnation of Schillerian philosophy, trapped within the female figure, distilled through lost Cremonian techniques, and framed in simplicity. Hard to beat. Quote:
![]() guess which one is me. :3

Re: Best Album Covers
One of my favorite album covers:
![]() Very surreal and simple cover, and it fits the album's music. ![]() This really defines Death in Vegas. ![]() There's not much to say about this cover. It's Squarepusher. |

Re: Best Album Covers
^I just listened to parts of that album for the first time the other day.
Is most of his music similar to what is on that album?

Re: Best Album Covers
You mean Squarepusher? Yes, all of the albums are experimental electronic, though the latest stuff is taking some other approaches.
