ZU's Favourite Albums: Submissions and Voting

Here we go, lets see how this works.

This is the thread where you can submit your fifteen most favourite albums. There is no restriction on era or age, country, genre or anything like that.

Here's how it will work. The album you rank to be number one, your favourite album, will receive twenty points. The second will receive nineteen, and so forth all the way down to number fifteen receiving six points. If your list does not contain fifteen albums, then they will still receive the corresponding number of points. If your list contains more than fifteen album, any others below fifteen will be ignored and will receive no points. As hard as it is to chose between albums sometimes, ties will also be discounted, so don't use them.

This thread will be open for a month, and will likely be closed around November 6th, depending on activity. I know some will bang off a list in no time, but others will take careful consideration that may take longer. You are allowed to change or alter your list as much as you'd like during the time the thread is open, but I do ask that you delete your previous list in order to save me some headache at the end if you chose to do so.

Following its close I will tabulate the results and post a final list. Its likely that there will be a lot of ties and not a lot of crossover, since we're a community with a fairly wide and varied set of musical tastes. But oh well, it should still be fun.

Finally, comments and such on each other's lists are fine. However, this is a favourite albums list, not a best albums list, so arguing over someone else's taste in music is kind of a pointless exercise.

So, get submitting and have fun!

Re: ZU's Favourite Albums: Submissions and Voting

I'm gonna find this list impossible to do, I don't know where most my CDs are : /

Also, I've just realised that I like almost no music from the 70s o:. Ziggy Stardust is the only album from the 70s that might end up on my list.

EDIT: Scratch that, I have more than I thought. Raw Power, All Mod Cons, Blood on the Tracks, Who's Next. 1970s *bow*

It's interesting that most of these albums are of bands with female singers... That's so different from me. I like the male voice.

Anyway- I'll definitely be making a list for this soon!

I considered saying that Greatest Hits and Compilation albums (including soundtracks with unoriginal scores or songs) shouldn't be eligible, but then those are albums too. I wouldn't really ever include any in any list I made, but if others want to I can't really justify not allowing them to.

Re: ZU's Favourite Albums: Submissions and Voting

Hm... I'm usually more a fan of songs rather than albums, but I'll pitch in. Though I gotta admit my favourite albums change a bit over time, so I'll include the albums which made a big impact on me when I first heard them.

But I need to know if greatest hits compilations and live albums count, cause... that could potentially change my list quite a bit.

But anyways.

1. Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
2. Octavarium - Dream Theatre
3. OK Computer - Radiohead
4. Origin of Symmetry - Muse
5. The Heart of Everything - Within Temptation
6. Brave New World - Iron Maiden
7. United Abominations - Megadeth
8. Dance of Death - Iron Maiden
9. Blues - Jimi Hendrix
10. Us & Them - Shinedown

I actually meant Demon Days. Writing lists at 4AM is a bad idea. Lawl.
