That was one of michael's most popular albums. Robert Johnson was a maaaaaassive influence on most of the classic rock in the 60s and 70s. And I chose rubber soul as well as several other really obscure classic rock albums instead. Rubber Soul is still pretty predictable. Most real hardcore beatles fans like Rubber Soul the best.

I'm not saying these are atypical, just atypical for the thread.
I direct you at my list. No floyd or Zeppelin's debut and no sgt. pepper's and no Michael Jackson.

I so all of this Beatles talking has got me thinking. I really like Please Please Me, and it does mark some of the most productive 15 hours in the entire history of recorded music. So I shall amend my list.

Are we still talking about me? Don't really think that's the intended subject. I put up my 15 favorite albums, rather they're stereotypical or not doesn't really matter.

Re: ZU's Favourite Albums: Submissions and Voting

Hmm. I've got fourteen different artists on my top 15. Streetlife Serenade is just too good to not have there. I really couldn't replace the second joel album.

My last.fm has like hundreds though. I only listen to about half of them regularly. Still plenty to go around. In the future I hope to get the albums for about fifteen to twenty different artists though. I'll probably find a lot more. There's so much music come out in the past twenty years that I've never heard that I really want to.

I've heard pretty much all of those except for "Yer Album". What kind of music is it? Obviously you think it's good, thought I might give it a try.

I listen to about 20 bands, and what ever is on the radio. I'm only really a fan of about 8 bands though. Hence my list being pretty much the same couple bands.

I don't see the big deal, I have have about 8 listed on my list as well. You can listen to more, but only really like a couple enough to consider them your favorite. So, yeah, just my 2 cents.

It's a wonky blend of folk rock and hard rock. Very late sixties, but one of the most unique sounds I've ever heard. Most of it is covers of songs written in the fifties and sixties, but imbued with Joe Walsh's legendary style.

Sounds nice, I'll check it out definitely. I'm always looking for unique sounds

I listen to about 400 bands. I just can't see how you don't get bored is all. To each their own, but, really...

(a side effect of this though is to be pretty unfamiliar with a LOT of your music, so my way has its faults as well)

I find myself enjoying music much more when I am familiar with the artist and albums. I mean, I enjoy listening to new music just as much as the next person, but nothing beats listening to my favorite bands. :]

Everyone is different, of course.

Yeah, see, like Anji I know an absurd amount about each of the 50-ish artists I like. I can tell you all of the names/ages/stories of the musicians and the influences of each band, their catalog of songs and the years and information about their discography and I've seen lots of live videos of each.

It helps not being bored when each artist you listen to has a huuuuuge discography. the beatles have some 13 albums, Joel about twelve, Zeppelin about 10, Green Day some 10 or 11, Walsh about twelve, incubus five, ACDC some nine-ish, Iron and Wine about five, Dire Straits about five.

Some bands that I wish had more: Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, The Nightwatchman, Temple of the Dog, John Floridis... the list goes on.

Re: ZU's Favourite Albums: Submissions and Voting

Of course I have my favorite artists, like Bomb the Music Industry! and The Hives, but a lot of times I want to hear something I haven't heard very much, or haven't heard before. Also, my exploration of music is for finding stuff that doesn't sound like what I've heard before, always wanting to hear a new sound.

With just shy of 36 hours left before the extended deadline ends, is there going to be a need to extend it again? There are currently something like 46 lists submitted. Thoughts?
