ZU's Favourite Albums - Ideas and Suggestions

Based on discussion that has been going on in this thread, I think there's enough interest to give this thing a shot.

Basically, we're going to make a compiled list of the favourite albums of the members of Zelda Universe, based off of the favourite albums of the individual members. This is 'Favourite' and not 'Best' because if it was the latter it would likely bear strong resemblance to the many hundreds of other 'best album' lists out there. This way we will hopefully get some great variety and maybe people will discover something new they like.

So this is going to be a preliminary thread for tossing around ideas for a day or two about how this thing should work.

So far I think the best way of actually compiling the list is to allow people to submit a list of their ten or twenty favourite albums. The number one album will receive 20 points, the second 19, and so on and so forth all the way down to the last album receiving 11 or 1 point(s) (depending on if 10 or 20 is the number we go with). Then its just a matter of simple addition and a list will be spit out.

What needs to be determined still is the following:
How many albums should be on the final list? 500 seems a little much, 50 maybe too little. 100 seems like a good number to me, but I am not sold on it by any means.

How many albums should be on each submitted list? 10 is rather restrictive, but 20 might be too much.

How long should entries be accepted for? Is a week too short? Too long? Ten days? A month?

And other stuff I can't think of because I haven't eaten all day.

Feel free to leave suggestions and ideas about anything seen here or any other such thoughts.

Everyone could submit a top fifteen. Fifteen seems like a good number.

And I think 250 albums will be good.

We need to see how many people are interested, first. We'd need like, quite a few participants for 250.

yeah you're right. maybe 100 is a good number. although that could be too small when you think about it.

To get 100 albums on the list, you need at least seven people to submit a list of fifteen albums with absolutely no repeats.

I get the feeling that no matter what, there are going to be an absurd number of ties. If there was the time or the means to actually do a tournament style it'd probably work better, but there's really neither of those things.

I can think of like... 3 friends who will do this. So there's a few.

I suppose I could help with this.

I might need a month just to friggin' compile a twenty favorite album list. I've got a lot of listening ahead of me, because I will take this VERY seriously.

Is as far as I can go for sure.

To be honest, I'd only be able to contribute maybe ten albums. I'm not much of a "by the album" music guy, myself.

Hmm.. I think I could help out with this. I totally have 15 favorite albums.

Yeah I'll have no problem coming up with 15 of my favorite albums.

Share with me the process you would go through that would take a month. I'm just curious, but it would also help me consider what a good time to set would be.

I'm interested in participating. I'll try to keep the albums I mention relatively mainstream so they'll represent ZU better than some of the obscure crap I listen to.

But seriously, don't be boring. That's what every other 'best ever' list is for.

I think everyone picking 15 albums, and having a lst of 250 is perfect. Go no smaller than this.

One question though.

After we get everyone's top 15, how will we order them? General consensus? Or are we not going to order them beyond that?
