I saw the thread title and first thought was "No way that Richard Kelly is involved in this." Turns out I'm right. On the other hand, IMDb has nothing on this, so I'm doubtful it's even true.

The reasons given for making a sequel are stupid anyway, if you want to have a generation have a defining cult move, make a sequel to one that already was. That logic doesn't follow at all.

Note: I haven't even seen the original, but I know Kelly's style, and sequels are not his style. Making movies nobody understands, on the other hand...

Donnie Darko is a great film and a sequel would totally tarnish its meaning. A sequel wouldn't even work! If any of you have seen it, you know what I'm talking about. If this is true, then I am pissed.

This has been confirmed, guys. It's going to be called S. Darko.



Not happy at all. People will probably eat this crap up though; since the original gained such a mainstream following. I'd say it's going to be a big hit at the box office; although I still hope it's just a straight to DVD release.

Why do things like this happen? Why does Hollywood constantly feel the need to bastardize the art of cinema? As if Spider-Man 3, Live Free or Die Hard, Transformers, and Pirates 3 isn't enough by just cramming a whole bunch of meaningless plot and ridiculous action in there, they also have to take the actually good, artistic films, and bastardize them to. I have just about had it with Hollywood. I really have. F*** 'em.
