Epic Movie. Everyone in school was all "OH. MY. GOD. IT'S AMAZING!!!!" but when I went to see it, I thought it was totally crap. I think I actually fell asleep... either way, it turned out to be the most expensive nap I've ever taken.

While you all hate on High School Musical, kindly remember that it was aimed at little girls ages six through twelve. I don't really like it much, but I realize that it wasn't aimed at me. I found it to be sweet at best, corny at worst. But it was written for little kids- hell yes it was corny.

Anyway, overrated movies? I'd have to go with the second two movies in the pirates triolgy. I watched them and was not amazed, and I thought the end to the third one was irredeemably lame. I feel the same way about the third installment in the recent Spiderman Trilogy. It was way too long and I felt like they were kind of jamming a bunch of unrelated subplots together. Also, Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride I felt are highly overrated. I certainly enjoyed them both. I saw Corpse Bride in theraters and thought it was all right, but not worth my friends' obsessions. And Nightmare... hard to believe, but I didn't see it until about two years ago. I liked it somewhat as well, but it didn't really live of to all of the hype and all of the this-movie-will-change-your-life ideas about it.

These movies maybe aren't "overrated" the same way Titanic or Napoleon Dynamite are overrated, but I can relate with Jadis. Scary Movie 3 came out when I was in 7th grade, and every kid saw the movie and crapped their pants over it. I watched it, and afterwards I felt like complaining to get my $12.50 back.

Re: Name a popular film that you hate, despise, or find completely overated.
Not episode III! that was actually kind of good.
Episode II: Attack of the Clones was the bad one. Anakin: I cant be with you, padme. Padme: Maybe we can be together somehow. Anakin: No it's not possible. Padme: I have to come with you. Anakin: There could be a way. Padme: Let's go to the lake nation! Real movie quote. It's from a cut scene, though. Anakin goes to padme's house and meets her older sister, sevants, and servants' kids. It's just Romeo and Juliette with flashy swords and spaceships. |

You're absolutely right about that. The end felt very rushed, but I'm not overly surprised. When you put out the fourth episode first, there's going to be a risk of the third episode getting kind of squished. You know?

Re: Name a popular film that you hate, despise, or find completely overated.
high school musical. It's so crap I refuse to capatalise it. It's brainwashed every girl in my school.
I feel Star Wrs went down a bit, but not enough for me to stop lovin' it! Episode 1: Great! It's actually my favourite! Episode 2: Anakin turned out to be a retard. And love? Psh. But still not a bad movie. Episode 3: Anakin turns into a bigger retard. Battle droid's voices change, I liked the old ones. Still makes the cut though. It turns out a lot of people hate Cars. I enjoyed it though, I thought it had good humor, a good cast, and that ol' Disney magic. The 2nd and 3rd Pirates of the Carribean movies were ok, but not as good as the 1st one. The Harry Potter movies are rubbish. Exept for maybe the 1st or 2nd. They were ok. Why did J.K. let them ruin her masterpeices? Rant finished.

Re: Name a popular film that you hate, despise, or find completely overated.
Titanic.
I know it's been said before, but god was that movie overrated. Why name a movie after a disaster and then focus on a teenage melodramatic soap-opera love affair? I mean, here they have possibly one of the most gripping stories in human history, and they completely forfeit all of that for that crap love story. A Night to Remember was a far better Titanic film, mostly because it was actually about Titanic. Spider-Man 3 How in the hell does this movie have a 6.6 rating at IMDb?! They spent so much time trying to cram useless villains and crappy backstories of villains into the movie that even the parts of it that really could have been good (Harry's redemption, for example) just became complete sh**. Honestly, how did they come off of the second film (in my opinion, one of the greatest superhero movies ever) to make this piece of crap? Transformers Just like Titanic, this movie wasn't actually about what it was called. I mean, I know that the giant robots were expensive, but even in the scenes that had the robots in them, they still opted to focus on the human "drama" (if such a word can be applied to this film). And then to have Sam kill Megatron in the end? Retarded. Pirates 3 I can safely say that this is very probably the worst film I've ever seen. Definitely in the top five of my all time worst movies. Crammed so much plot in there that they had like one scene of character development and it was between Will and Elizabeth, arguably the most boring couple in modern cinema. And then building up the whole Calypso thing (just as an aside, last I checked, Calypso is a Greek sea nymph, not a pirate goddess) for like an hour and a half to have it do nothing. Not to mention that the movie would actually still retain its cinematic value (if it had any to begin with) by chopping out about 45 minutes of it. Yeah, all that unnecessary and quite frankly boring action. Okay, whether or not action films are good or not, they should at least be mildly entertaining, never boring. How can you make swashbuckling pirate battles boring? I don't know, but they did it. I'm sure that there are plenty of others that I just can't think of right now.

![]() Yeah, it's not exactly deep or meaningful, I'll give you that. But it always makes me very happy. I agree with a few mentioned here: PotC. They wern't bad films, I suppose. They just consistantly fail to engage me. I remember being bored through every one I've seen. I also never really saw the appeal of Sparrow. And Orlando Bloom, blurgh. Napolean Dynamite. This never fails to annoy me. Firstly, I never found it funny. It tries a little bit too hard to be quirky and awkward in that really hip way that 15 year olds swarm all over. And Napoleon can **** right off. He was widely disliked for a pretty good reason, and that film actually had me siding with Blondie McWhatsherface and the bulky guy by the end of it. What else... Agreed, agreed, agreed on Transformers. If you make a huge thrilling blockbuster about kickass transforming robots, try to focus on the robots themselves instead of getting stuck on horrifically dull adolescent protagonists as they struggle to get laid. That part of the film should have been a tiny portion of it. Also, I sat through 10 minutes of Date Movie then turned it off.

Re: Name a popular film that you hate, despise, or find completely overated.
Titanic. Jesus christ I hated that film. Only thing good about it was seeing Leo shirtless and shagging that girl.
LotR. They were okay, I guess, but not the bestest films evar. Princess Mononoke. I will not lie, I loved this film when I was younger. But watching it now, I overhyped. Wasn't as awesome and epic as I remember.

You know what, f*** Michael Bay. F*** him and every movie he's ever done. F*** The Island (it was okay, but I was hoping for so much more), f*** Pearl Harbor (oh god, there's an another completely overrated movie that completely missed the point. Oh let's make a three hour movie called Pearl Harbor, but only have twenty minutes of it be about the attack. Yeah that sounds good [/sarcasm]), and anything else he's done. What a terrible filmmaker. Why is he still in business? Why was he chosen to direct Transfomers, possibly one of the biggest summer blockbusters in the history of cinema? Okay, rant over.

Now that you mention it, that little song about Pearl Harbour sucking in Team America was a better cinematic experience than Pearl Harbour in it's entirity.
