It's true: a live-action Dragonball film

Dragonball (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dragonball (2008)
I'm going to put in more on this later. I'm a bit busy.
I can't believe after Japan made that mistake before. Haven't Hollywood learned? The storyline's even a bit wrong from there. And fellow Canadian Justin Chatwin as GOKU? I liked him in "Invisible" (it was an ok movie, but his acting was pretty good), but the director saying that his hair looks like Goku. Excuse me while I **** my pants in unsatisfaction.
This is going to be a bomb defused by serious terrorists here. Think about it.
Discuss.

Japan hasn't made a Dragon Ball (live-action) movie, Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins was an unofficial Chinese-made movie.

I dunno, all I've been hearing is good things about this movie, especially regarding actors and whatnot. I wouldn't be shocked at all if it surprises people and ends up being really cool.

I've been hearing about this for years and years and years now (since 2002, apparently). It's good to see that these weren't just playground/school bus rumors.

Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi! Super-cool! ^_^

I'll wait until I see some photos and trailers before I make my decission in watching this movie. I will watch this movie, sooner or later (rent it, or watch it when it comes out on TV), but theaters? I still feel reluctant. Right now I just think that a whole lot of movies are based off of already existing things (like books, tv shows, novels, true stories), that there really isn't any more originality.

What the heck? Seriously? I never in a million years thought this would happen... it's tough to imagine this adapting to the big screen and being a success or anything but a mega-flop. Although it looks like one of those things that'll be a cult movie.

Yeah, same here. A trailer will be good, I guess it'll be tough to judge until we get an idea as to what the heck it's gonna look like.

I might see it in thearters, but I will probably be wearing a wig, fake 'stache and sunglasses. You know, so no one recognized me.

This sounds campy as hell; I love it already.

So yeah, I'll have to see it at some point out of principle alone. If it actually looks good it may even be worth an outing to the local dollar theater a few months after release (which is still an honor because I never pay the full $7 to see movies when they're new.)

I heard about this a couple months ago, because James Marsters was cast as Piccolo, and I have tabs kept on most of actors who have worked with Joss Whedon, as Marsters did.

Of course, I know next to nothing about the show it's based on, other than seeing bits of one or two episodes at a friend's house. So I probably won't end up seeing it. I am curious as to how they'll adapt it though, just because for some reason images of the Mortal Kombat movies keep coming to mind.

My god. The shows were cool... but a movie? They went a little too far IMO.

This is going to be hysterical. Just like the live-action Guyver movie.

Oh, Lawd.

What are you talking about?

Maybe the first Guyver movie but the second one was awesome. The first one is more on the okay side.

Are you kidding me? The script was terrible, the dialogue was stilted and the acting was as wooden as Blackbeard's peg leg. Unless you're coming from the 'so bad it's good' angle, in which case I would cite "Warriors of Virtue". At least the latter has the novelty of kung-fu kangaroos.

The second one may have been better, but the difference was negligable at best.

This make me happy inside.

I heard of way back in the day when I was in junoir high, but I never actually thought they'd go through with it. I picture it's going to be a bit cheesy. Especially when they have to scream to become like super powerful, which I hope they won't, casue that'll be weird to see on a non animated character. Thankfully, they don't have to scream all the time to power up - let's just hope there is no powering up, unless it's done with really awesome special effects.

Anyways. I'd watch it. I'd go to the theatres and watch it.

I think it's weird that they're making the movie now and not during the Dragonball craze fad era. Oh well, such is development hell.

Okay, it's time to just shut down the film industry for good.

Dragonball is the series where the characters are all children, right? So why have they cast grown arsed men to play the roles? I don't like the look of the cast either. The only names that stand out to me immediately are James Masters and Emmy Rossum, and I think that they're both pretty B-grade. I have enjoyed them in some things, but they don't have much range in my opinion.

If I hear one mockney east London accent...

I am hoping that it'll do well though, because I'd love to see a sequel. I just really want Rumor Willis to play Buu - she needs a break.

Float your unnecessary.

If this ends up being awesome, I will disregard any negative statements about a live-action DBZ movie and praise the live-action Speedracer movie as well.

I think it started as all kids, but it's been going for so long, they're not kids anymore. Hell, when the series started, Goku was a kid, right? las I saw, Goku had a grown-up kid (Gohan).

the series is so diverse, they could do practically anything with it and still call it DBZ. as long as there are dragonballs involved... (gets horrible image in head)

This news is both a hope and a dissapointment. Dragonball was a good show animated correct. I am worried that they will mess up the show somehow.

I believe it's taking place during the King Piccolo Saga. Everyone's grown up, so that's not really a problem...

Live-action Speedracer? That's all we need.

Though, I wouldn't mind a live-action Sailor Moon movie.
