There's no Vegeta because this movie is about the introduction of Piccolo before DBZ started... this is from the DRAGONBALL series not DBZ. Which, btw, the Piccolo Jr. saga is just as good as anything in DBZ if you ask me.

That doesn't mean it'll be any good. But we shall see eh?

i think the only thing that could save it if it was fairly bad would be impressive effects, which it will probably wil have, but the most impressive thing would be super saiyan transformations.

And i know its not a dragonball z movie, but c'mon, vegeta's the best thing that happened to any dragonball series.

Yeah well, it really should be a DBZ movie that goes up until the end of Frieza if you ask me. But they decided otherwise.

Dragonball was far better before the introduction of Vegeta. The worst thing to happen to the Dragonball series was the shift from fantasy adventure to mindless fighting, if you ask me.
Piccolo and Vegeta are the two reasons Dragonball lost its feeling of adveture. I still love DBZ, but DB, to me, was far better and more creative.

DBZ is still DB. The manga never changed it's name. It's all the same story. It's all still Dragonball. Anyway. I don't feel like it ever lost it's sense of adventure. I think that formula got old and it naturally just increased it's stakes.

For example... Goku dies in the saiyan saga... and it's an adventure for him to get to Snake Way. Gohan and Krillin have to travel to Namek and it's an adventure as they run into those alien beings that pretend to be Namekian on the way. Then when they get there they have to search for the Dragon Balls and deal with Vegeta/Ginyu Force, etc.

Vegeta's back story about how he wants to get revenge on Frieza and take his spot as the most powerful person in the universe is interesting.

If anything, I think the story was only building on itself to get grander and bigger in adventure. It wasn't all just about fighting in DBZ. There's plent of character development in both good and bad guys. There's that whole side plot of Gohan's hidden power going on.

I honestly think people blow the differences way out of proportion. Besides, they TRIED to go back to the adventure route at the beginning of GT, they even made him a kid again. But it was HORRIBLE.

I disagree. The introduction of sci-fi elements to the Dragonball "fantasy adventure" gave it a sort of "science fantasy" feel, that helped add freshness and keep the series interesting. In my opinion, the introduction of a truly universe-threatening galactic overlord such as Frieza, and the struggle against him, helped give it a more "epic" feel.

If Dragonball does well as a live-action film, I would love to see a sequel featuring Vegeta and Frieza. The third would feature the androids and Cell.

Re: It's true: a live-action Dragonball film

Despite it being my favorite anime as a kid I wouldn't see it. I think it would look kinda cheesy with the big hair and all. And how would all the creatures look? I just hope the fighting isn't like how it was in Power Rangers.

Oh my, this sounds like the silliest thing since the Sailor Moon live action thing I was linked to a few months back x:

I mean, this is just strange :/

And no Vegeta sounds very wtf-able indeed.

And think the fact that the movie is based off the King Piccolo arc in Dragonball has something to do with that.

I'm interested in this and all, but come on, they could at least try to make the actors look like the characters.

Re: It's true: a live-action Dragonball film

I'm interested in how this DBZ live action film will turn out. I don't expect it to be much like the original, but the mere concept will be entertaining enough. Oh, and LOL at the picture that is posted. Am I the only one that wishes they would actually CGI on some absolutely ridiculous hairdo, just like they have in the manga?

Though, I wouldn't mind a live-action Sailor Moon movie.
The Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon live action series was, believe it or not, not too badly done, I think. I persevered through the first eleven or so episodes without too much trouble. After that the comedy value wore off and my interest began to wane. For a Westerner to watch it is almost too funny at the start. Sailor Moon was attacked by a giant tentacle monster. D: I mean, it is obviously over the top as it is aimed towards kids, but I strangely suspect that the producers also realised that a certain percentage of the viewers would be over 40 year old men as there is a sizable amount of fan service. Written at two levels I think.

Bump, for new movie poster -
Draw your own conclusions......

Anyone else think the guy who plays Goku looks like Elijah Wood with bed hair?
Here's hoping for a good tail.

I don't think anyone can really explain the Wii. Maybe Miyamoto, but that's okay. The Wii is a lifestyle and a way of thinking. And it's not about money and popularity - although, printing money is nice - it's a voice that says, "Here I am and **** you if you don't wanna play me." And one of these games is gonna save the world. And that means wii can save the world - all of us together. And the chicks are great. But what it all comes down to is the zone: that indefinable thing when people catch something from waving their arms around like idiots. And the chicks and the whatever, all that is an offshoot of the zone.

Anyone have acid I can borrow to throw in my eyes right now? Dear GOD, when will Hollywood learn?
When is this film coming out? I heard it halted and is going to a 2009 release.
