Sweeny Todd

The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

How many people have seen this movie/musical? Watched it a few weeks ago with my friend, and found it to be quite the movie. We find ourselves quoting it quite a lot. We have the songs on his Ipod and listen to them almost everyday. So who else has seen Sweeny Todd and what do you think of it?

I've seen the older version, the actual play. I would like to see the newer Tim Burton film but It's not released where i live yet. It looks really good and faithful to the original story.
Who doesn't want blood, barbers, singing, canibalism and human pies at the same time?

Well, they don't know what's good for them. I recommend this film (or the original musical) to everyone! It really is excellent. Plus anythign with Johnny depp is an instant winner.

I heard it had copious amounts of blood rivaling that of even Kill Bill.

I am excited to see it.

It rivals mortal combat and the civil war.

I thought this thread was talking about me.
I think we should be talking about me, because I haven't heard of this movie.

I saw the musical, wasn't really into it though,
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
it felt like something based out of the The Count of Montecristo.

I'm really exited however on the movie. Mostly because of the Tim Burton-Johnny Depp duo, and how extremely dark the movie looks.

Wow... TWO movies directed by Tim Burton in which Johnny Depp stars as a barber?

BIGGEST. COINCIDENCE. EVAR.

Unless it's a renamed remake or somefink like that.

I haven't seen it, which is a shame, since I really wanted to see it. It's not playing at my town's theater, and the closest one that its playing at is 65 miles away. The praise this movie has received doesn't help the fact that I probably won't be able to see it for a few more months. <_<

I thought the acting from the entire cast was fantastic, Helena Bonham Carter pretty much stole every scene she was in, and I loved the visuals, but the music really did not do it for me.

That was the first time I'd ever saw any interpretation of the Sweeny Todd musical, and I have to say that I wasn't impressed. A little monotonous and overbearing to my ears I'm sorry to say. :[

Still, I'd say that it's definitely worth watching. Like I mentioned earlier, the cast are fantastic and it's directed brilliantly. Although I could quite happily watch Helena Bonham Carter fold sheets for two hours and I'll be happy. XD

Float your pies.
