Some of the action looked a bit too far-fetched, but the racing scenes were damn cool, and since the brothers who made the Matrix Trilogy are making this movie, it has to be good.

By the way, what is Speed Racer? This is the first time I heard that name.

It's a pretty famous Anime from the 60's. You've honestly never heard of it?

^ Yeah, first time hearing about it. But now that you say it's an anime (even if it is old), you just made my anticipation grow for this movie.

They HAVE to have the horrendously out-of-sync mouth movements to the voices. Without those, it's just some generic race car movie...

Just Saw it today. It was unbelievably awesome! I went to it not really expecting to like it any, since I really didn't like the original cartoon, but It was one of the best movies I've ever seen! The effects were good, the story good, and the scenery was great. Truely great!

I went to this movie expecting it to suck. Yet I felt it was something I had to watch. I usually dislike movies that use but loads of special effects where its painfully obvious. My best example of this would be Spy Kids 3 and Shark Boy and Lava Girl.

Judging from the trailers I thought it was going it was going to be like this... I am glad that I was wrong.

This movie was amazing, some parts I dislike because of the obvious use of CGI and such. I fully enjoyed this movie, the races were awsome. The characters were fun and cool, the scenery was amazing.

I didn't expect to like it, because I hated the Anime. But I was wrong.

Uh.. How in the world do you seriously justify complaining about the CGI use in this movie? You say 'obvious' like it's something they could have/wanted to hide.

I never said it wasn't intentional, I just dislike the overuse of CGI. At times it just looked like EVERYTHING was CGI except for the actors. Not something I like. Thats just my opinion though about my preference.

Most of the CGI in the movie was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Remember this is just my simple opinion.

Oh wow I really liked this movie.

**** the reviewers giving it bad reviews, seriously. Why is it getting so much negative reception? I really loved this movie and how it felt like a, well, a true live-action anime movie with a nice story, nice CGI that fits perfectly, and great scenery. Just wow it was really good.

I seen it, it was alright. It was a little cheesy but it picked up.

I remember watching the cartoons on TV when I was really young, so I'll have to see this movie. The reviews are really bad, but everyone I talk to seems to have loved it. I don't think it's even out here at the moment though :/

So, is this another example of movie reviewers giving a movie bad reviews because it wasn't exactly how they'd have done it, rather than for it being bad on its own merits? Because that's how it's starting to look from the responses I've seen here and from people I know.

If you are looking for an original plot, with not so cliche characters and such, this movie is not for you.

Anyone who couldnt figure out who Racer X was, other then small children, need to pay attention a little more.

Its a movie you would watch simply for the entertainment for about 2 hours.

I also never try and rely to much on reviews. They might think the movie sucked, but I might find it incredibly enjoying.

that movie was great man, being that I love any thing that has race cars or driving simulators. It was worth watching it. Kinda reminds me of F-Zero though
