YouTube - CLOVERFIELD, New Theatrical trailer! (From HD source)

Looks like the Blair Witch Project meets War of the Worlds.

^Meets godzilla.

I can't wait for this movie, it's someting new.. finally. Filming the movie like this gives it the feel that you're not watching a movie but something real (and the fact that there's a godzilla-like monster roaming in new york makes that incredibly awesome)

5 minute preview

I've never been so excited for a movie, this better not suck or I'll go out on a killing spree.

Oh man, I was just about to make this thread : D. I'm pretty excited for the movie, and I agree that the filming style will add a unique brand of excitement, but it also opens up the possibility of a very abrupt ending. The first-person style is supposed to add realism, and in reality, in a situation like that, the camera would eventually run out of battery power, or just get messed up beyond use from being dropped/jostled/hit/whatever. If it does manage to stay intact I somehow doubt that the battery power would really hold out long enough for the conflict of a monster tearing the **** out of NYC to be completely resolved. This would certainly not be a problem for traditionally-filmed movies, but since the director seems to be shooting for realism, I have a very strong feeling that this movie will be ending rather abruptly.

Despite this, I'm sure it's going to be great. At least, I hope it will be- all the buzz and secrecy is certainly getting my hopes up.

EDIT: YouTube - The official Cloverfield trailer

Trailer that was first shown in theaters. To generate curiosity and publicity, it didn't even give the name of the movie- just the release date.

Ooohooohooo, I'm ready for this movie. I'm hoping I'll be able to see it on opening night, I'm psyched. I've been keeping up with some of the fan speculation and stuff, but I'm still not exactly sure what the whole thing's going to be about exactly. I'm looking forward to watching this on the big screen. I mean, it's J J Abrams we're talking about, I doubt it'll be anything less than spectacular.

You do see the camera getting messed up in the preview, parts are cut and there is some static.

I wouldn't be surprised if the camera actually DOES die for a while and a new battery has to be placed in. "Technical difficulties" are to be expected in this movie which will make it all the more realistic.

Well, yes, but good luck to the main characters in finding a new battery while the city is being destroyed

Obviously, "technical difficulties" will be frequent and will add to the realism, but I just have a feeling that they will also contribute to a very abrupt and possibly unsatisfactory ending to the movie.

I dunno. I'll see it anyway! : D

Well I have this feeling that if it does have an abrubt ending it will probably statisfy me atleast. I think i would be leaving the movie theatre with awe.

Anyways I like the idea of seeing it through first person, will add to the realisim and give a feeling your actualy there.

At least we'll figure out what the monster is! D:

Hopefully... It'd kinda suck if, like, through out the entire movie we don't ever see it. o.o We will, though.

http://www.1-18-08.com/]http://www.1-18-08.com/

Just a site that a lot of people have been trying to pick up clues on. The only thing that annoys me is that the picture with the guy holding the pan doesn't have a date or time on it. ._.

I wanna see it in theaters, but I don't have anyone to go with. ._. I'll just wait for it to come out on DVD.

Aww that sucks, I'd go with you if I could :[ A movie like this has to be seen in the theaters imo.

I remember that site, after a couple of minutes you can hear the monster roar.

I read somewhere that we'll definatly get to see the monster according to the producer or director, so no worries there. Besides, a monster that big is kinda hard to miss
There's a really short clip of him in the 5 minute preview where he walks between the skyscrapers.

Wow, aren't you glad I showed you that trailer?

Anyway, such an abrupt ending might leave people unsatisfied, I think the movie might end with a short story about what happened afterwards. But I hope the guy finds some new batteries to replace the old ones of the camera with or maybe even have an extra set with him (however unlikely)

The monster by itself is very mysterious, we know nothing about it or where it came from or why it's here. We only know that the government knows something about the monster and has named it "project cloverfield"

I wonder if the movie will reveal it's mysteries, I hope it does.

looks cool, I like that the camera work makes it look kinda like blair witch, like it was actually filmed by an average person with a little camcorder. I will probably see this when it comes out. I'm not super excited for it though.

Hahaha. I've heard a few other names they've been speculating on, and they're extremely weird. o.o Slusho! is the only one that I remember off the top of my head.

And the beginning of the movie says that Cloverfield is the new name for what was originally Central Park. D: WHY it's now Cloverfield is what we don't know.

J.J. Abrams said that this is the closest guess we'll be getting: http://www.nerdtests.com/mq/usrimg/27151img2.jpg

On top of that, some people think they've found the face on the poster. YouTube - Cloverfield Monster HIDDEN IMAGE! Do you guys think it's real?

This and The Dark Knight are one of the only movies I want to watch in the cinema's this year. I remember watching this trailer months ago when I was at the cinema. All the adverts were boring but when this came along I was like "Let me guess - It's one of those 'Think' adverts". But eventually my jaw dropped as I saw that explosion! :XD I showed it to my class mates a few weeks ago and they seemed really impressed, except a few lol.

I only just found out that the monster eats oil rigs?!

Well the title says "That monster is still eating oil rigs". I'm guessing that's how it causes the explosion. I haven't checked the video yet but I'm planning to when I come back from college.

It seems that the explosion didn't blow away the statue's head. It was just ripped off by the creatures claws. Since its huge ofcourse it would be flying at a great distance.

This movie looks wicked! I can't wait to see it supposedly the monster has the tail of a whale, and it's so big that it has 6 foot parasites on it that can jump off and attack. I dunno my mate told me about a picture he saw. Anyone know any confirmations?

Nah, there aren't any confirmations. The producer is keeping the movie, especially the monster, a huge secret, since it's (supposedly) a completely new and original creature. I've seen the picture that you probably saw, and it isn't real. Sorry :[

But there's a part in one of the trailers where the monster walks between two buildings, and when the clip is slowed down, you can just barely see part of it. So if you want to go youtube hunting.. :]
