Re: Cloverfield

^ The thrid one sucked for this one reason: The T-Rex was defeated by that stupid Spinosaur. I was so mad when that happened. The T-Rex has extremely powerful jaws, it should've crushed that wimpy spinosaur's neck! But no, it had to be some mutated spinosaur with powers... Like it fell into a lake and got mutated a la Smallville.

And you're right, cloverfield blew them both out the water. Totally! Good thing I watched it. I'm in your debt, I belive, humulos

And for your information, the movie was not in swedish, that rarely happens actually. Most movies are just subtitled. The only movies that usually get dubbed are family/kids movies. Had the movie been in swedish, I would've hated it... I promise you that.

Maybe not as funny as pro wrestling, but a lot more realistic.

Re: Cloverfield

Despite Jurassic Park III being molded from the leftovers of the first two, I really liked it. ^_^

Naw. I believe it has something to do with the parasites' venom and the reaction to it that caused her to explode. Check the Cloverpedia article on it.

And besides, if it was in their blood, don't you reckon they'd explode all over the place too?

Re: Cloverfield

Well, maybe the insects are immune to it. They seem to handle it pretty well if they did.
And I believe that Slusho, as the ingredient explains, makes your stomache explode ”Happy”.
If it is real, I would think it either comes from the sea nectars under the sea, which made the monster to what he is, or it comes from the monster itself.
That is the closest thing I can come to from connecting all these ”Theories”

Why would it? We see nothing that shows that the monster has this venom or blood. The monsters are apparently parasites of some sort living on it. Even if they did bite him, he would either be too large to suffer any effects or he was immune to it.

Re: Cloverfield

Thank you, Vaati. ^_^

Mr. Grumpypants obviously has immunities toward the parasites, but humans do not. And, for all we know, the parasites can be eating gunk that's on him, and not Clover itself.

Re: Cloverfield

Umm... I guess I don't know as much about the movie as you guys do... Where are you getting this information?

I loved the movie. Ending was slightly anticlimactic, but it was well, well worth it. Can't wait for the sequel.

Why exactly is it called cloverfield?

This is a serious answer:
Because they felt like naming it cloverfield. The name is completely random, and it's also the name given to the tape they found in central park.

They had to give it a name so they named it after the studio or something similar.

Re: Cloverfield

^No, that's bull****. there's two possible distinct reasons:
  1. Clovers tend to grow in places where there have been explosions, so central park would then become a clover field.
  2. The movie's intended name was elegdly supposed to be something to do with the director's name (or somehthing), which sounded like cloverfield, and there was a mistake made on some ledgerso that they ended up calling it cloverfield. Even when this mistake was found out, they thought it was a good name so they kept it. I'm not sure if it was originally supposed to be the director's anme or the producer's name or what, so don't quote me on that.

Why not give it a random name? It happens all the time.

Re: Cloverfield

I'm not saying it's a bad idea to give a movie a random name, I am simply stating that, with this movie, that is not the case.

Yes it is.

I think Clover was the first part of it. Maybe it was Cloverdale. When Drew [Goddard] was putting a name to the project, there was supposed to be a name for the project like there was for The Manhattan Project. So he said, "I am going to use that weird mysterious thing," and he misheard it. He didn't even understand that it wasn't Cloverfield, it was Cloverdale. Maybe that was because of the street by J.J.s old office, but the truth is he just misunderstood it.
Kinda like you said. But it's just a random name they misheard and decided to use.

I don't know how reliable Wikipedia is, but they said JJ Abram's daily freeway exit to his Santa Monica office is called Cloverfield. Might that be the reason?
