Re: Cloverfield
Yea I remember that part, I think its in the tunnels where they are attacked.
But not sure, I just remember a blood splatter, and Hud tries to clean it off. It was actualy kind of funny, he wipes it and the whole lens thing got smuged, but he finally got it clean. I thought the way they handled the camera was great.

Re: Cloverfield
I "saw" Cloverfield last night. I say "saw" because I couldn't take in more than 5 minutes at a time before I ended up feeling ill.
However, I still really liked it. It has about all the "depth" of Lost (ie: None.), and doesn't make you think, so I'm a bit confused as to why people kept hyping those parts of it. Since, you know, they didn't exist. However, I really liked the way it was done. It wasn't a conventional monster movie (for which I am extremely grateful, you can only see so many Godzilla clones before they become extremely boring and repetitive.) and the storytelling style was excellent. The monster doesn't make much sense. But then, these creatures never do, so I won't hold that against it. In addition, it was the right move to not show you what it looked like until quite late, it's much scarier when you have no idea what it is or how it acts. Quite a few people have complained about However, unlike that show, it actually made sense for this movie. After all, this movie isn't supposed to be an account of how a monster wrecks NY and is eventually stopped and we all learn a lesson about the hubris of humanity. Instead, it's about the people who get caught in a natural disaster and what happens to them. In that light it makes perfect sense. Now, I won't call it artistic or revolutionary, it isn't either, but it isn't out of place or horrible, either. I'd highly recommend it to people as a nice mixture of the monster/horror genre. Just don't expect to use your brain, or to get any answers at all.

![]() Oh, and I forgot to add, wouldn't the helicopter blow up in flames when it crashed? I mean, it was pretty high up in the air and it tail spun quite fast to the ground. I guess I had more to say than I thought.

Re: Cloverfield
I don't know, maybe it's because since there was nothing really interesting about the characters other than Hud and Marlena(however her name is spelled.) I only remember their names because they were repeated a lot. I don't remember anyone elses name. Right now Beth comes up in my mind as the girl that Rob was going out with.
Was there a Beth?

Re: Cloverfield
That's what I thought.

Monsters are much more frightening if you don't get a good look at them. Would The Blair Witch Project have been anywhere near as scary if you saw the witch? I doubt it. In fact, the whole "The less you see, the scarier it is" idea has been known for a long time, yet most directors seem to ignore it. If I'm reading the comments right, this is because people hate not seeing the monster. Which is odd, since I thought people went to these sorts of movies to be scared. Quote:

Re: Cloverfield
Man, I saw this movie Friday, and I have to say it was an excellent movie but like other posters have stated, it made me sick.
I usually don't get such motion sickness (I can read in a moving vehicle). Things like this usually don't bother me, but the problem was, it was packed, and WE HAD TO SIT AT THE FRONT. I can't describe how hard it was to watch, everything was so huge. I felt like throwing up, and my neck hurt :p But I really liked the original idea they used in the filming. And not knowing about the monsters made it more real, as if WE were the people running away. We knew as much as they did. Luckily, it was a pretty short film, and next time I think I'll enjoy it in front of a small TV screen. ![]() |

Re: Cloverfield
Wow, I saw it two days ago, never before has a movie made my heart pound like this one. In my opinion this is certainly the best monster movie ever made thanks to the way it was shot. And Luckily for me I didn't experience motion sickness whatsoever, infact I did my best to try to feel it it but I didn't get it anyway.
I wonder if the guy who designed the cloverfield monster and the parasites also designed Metroid Prime's monsters, I mean seriously.. put that monster and the parasites in metroid prime and they'd fit right in (Btw, Did anybody else laugh at the sound those parasites were making when they attacked in the tunnel? It was funny as hell xD) |

![]() But that was actually one of my favorite parts of the movie, very intense. I especially liked the part right before it when they bring up the guy who "set fire to homeless people" in the tunnels... Classic. |

Re: Cloverfield
Lol, no, behold!
YouTube - Hey, Shipwreck: The Fourth Episode ^off topic^ And since people seem to have character confusion, let's break it down. I think it is safe to refrain from spoiler tags at this point. Rob- Main dude and reason for the part. Employed as VP of Slusho. Beth-Rob's Girlfriend who has the ability to withstand stabs through the shoulder. Hud-Cameraman who get's eaten in half apparently. Lilly- That girl who plans the party. Jason-That guy who dates that girl, also Rob's brother. Milena-Chick who explodes, Hud's love interest. I think that's everyone...

Re: Cloverfield
I loved this movie, but half the people that I went with just *****ed and whined about it. Brilliant filmmaking, but no one I know can appriciate the movie for what it is.... Art. Pure and simple ART.
Just one question though, what happen to the lady(her name escapes me) who got bitten? Did she get shot, or did she explode from some kind of infection.
