Re: Cloverfield

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
I head an interview with the cast this morning and there was no official talk of a sequel or prequel but I totally wouldn't mind seeing one. I like how they leave a lot up to you, but again, I'd really like to know what the eff is going on haha.

Re: Cloverfield

To the above in no particular order:

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
The monster is still alive. At the end of the movie you hear something on the radio. When played backwards it says "it is still alive" AWESOME!

Yeah, it did kind of seem like ghoma, both are arachnid.

I am fairly certain Melina's head exploded, considering blood is oozing from her beforehand. It seems blood was rapidly rushing to her head.

I have heard a lot of people so far say it is Alien, but it is too close to earth creatures to be such, IMO

Oh, and the guys name was Hudson. Hud for short

Re: Cloverfield

Oh was it, I could only catch a few of the names and they were not exactly spoken often. Plus I am horrible with names!

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
I do remember sometime in the credits I heard something, but was not sure what it said. Makes you wonder what could kill this thing! I remember seeing it get hit by a bunch of bombs seemed to do nothing.

hmm, only time will tell if we will ever learn more.

Re: Cloverfield

I only saw parts of the movie, but from what I've gathered from the snippets: the ending was crap - I heard booing throughout the whole movie theater. I'm not a big fan of camera-holding movies either, they tend to give me motion sickness. Plus, the whole love story between the characters was just horrid.

Re: Cloverfield

^Are you kidding? Booing? did you even SEE the ending?

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
A BLOODY ASTEROID FELL IN THE WATER WHILE ROB AND BETH WERE AT CONEY ISLAND! And at the end of the credits, the Radio says "it's still alive" backwards!

Maybe everyone was booing because this was a movie that actually requires the viewer to do some thinking. I know the people right behind me were complete idiots, and wanted everything just told to them. All last night I was doing nothing but linking things together to figure out wot on earth happened. Something else interesting

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Even though the asteroid suggests alien, I don't think it was extraterrestial. The way that the offsprings bites causes Melina's blood to rush to her head suggests that there was a gene that the body was rejecting. Aliens would not have that effect, so it seems it was man-made

Also, the home video style was perfect to me. I have never seen a monster movie I could believe in so much.

Re: Cloverfield

The movie really wasn't all that bad. Just don't try and think too much about it or you'll realize that there are alot of inconsistances in the movie, mostly dealing with the creature and its supposed origins but also events in the movie. Not to mention there are parts that just don't really make much sense at all.

Re: Cloverfield

The ending just cuts out, Sopranos style. Cliffhanger? No thanks. Plus, who runs for their lives whilst holding a video camera? Meh, the parts I saw, I didn't like. But I really should see the whole movie before I judge it accordingly.

I have done nothing but think about it, where are the inconsistencies? I don't see any really.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
Well for starters if you've read the whole Slusho website deal you'd know that it pretty much says the creature is a deep sea creature, but there is no way that it can be. For instance if it was it would have been blinded the minute it reached the surface. Another thing is that if it was a deep sea creature it wouldn't have reached the surface anyway, alive at least, as it would have gone trough decompression and exploded. Also towards the end after the helicopter crash when Hud goes back for the camera how come no one noticed the creature standing right in front of them until he grabbed the camera and was looking at them? Another thing is how was Beth still running around after the injuries she sustained? She was stabbed by a rebar and had been laying their bleeding out for who knows how long. I can understand her being alive if the rebar missed all arteries, but she still would have lost a good deal of blood making her unable to really run around like she did. Then there is the helicopter crash. How could they survive a helicopter crash from skyscraper height staright to the ground?

These are just some of the things that I was talking about. The movie has more but I really don't feel like going through every little detail.

*Looks at Slusho* WTF? How weird... Well I agree, the monster is definitely not deep sea, as it obviously has lungs, as can be told by the undulating dealy on its head. However, the tail of the creature greatly resembles some deep sea glowy fishes, which makes me believe it may have been involved in making the Chimera (as I believe it is a chimera)

Also towards the end after the helicopter crash when Hud goes back for the camera how come no one noticed the creature standing right in front of them until he grabbed the camera and was looking at them?

Not sure, but weren't they looking the other way? I am going to see it again, so I will be sure to pay attention to that

Good point, I found that fairly strange as well.

As long as the copter does not explode or at least hits the ground at a good angle, they would not die.

The reason the dude keeps the camera is because he wants to document it all. He makes a comment about how people are going to want to know how it happens.

As for the ending... well you just gonna have to see it.

Re: Cloverfield

Notice at the beginning of the film it says "Film/Evidence/Document/Something 4" or something, suggesting there are at least 3 other accounts of the attack?

Well considering the pilots were killed it is extremely unlikely that they would not have sustained major injuries, though it does seem like Rob had some kind of injury to his leg though it didn't seem all that bad.

Spoiler (Highlight to read):
When the exited the crashed helicopter they were facing away from where the creature would have been, but when Hud turned around to get the camera he would have been facing the creature. Beth and Rob would have also seen it too when they turned around.

Cloverfield has had a huge viral marketing campaign with several websites for fictional companies and organizations that can be linked to the movie and monster.

Slusho! - You Can't Drink Just Six.

Some of them are a little more obvious than that, though, but I can't quite recall the names off the top of my head. One was some sort of drilling company, though, while another was a group of environmental activists.

EDIT: Fictional drilling company was called Tagruato, and the activist group was called Tidowave.

there's also 1-18-08.com
