Favourite Actor(s)/Actress(')

Who are your favourite actors/actress'?

I would have to vote,
  • Michael Caine
  • Harrison Ford
  • Mark Hammil
  • Tom Hanks
  • John Krasinski

And I like a lot more but I just can't think of their names at the moment.

I really like Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, and, since Batman Begins, Christian Bale. Every performance these actors have given were excellent. I'm definitely looking forward to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Sweeney Todd, and The Dark Knight. Robert Downey, Junior is an excellent actor as well, and I'm looking forward to Iron Man.

Because this is in the Movies subforum, I'll assume you mean film actors. I'll also try to stick with mostly actors who are still alive today, since going through all time would take ages.

Ben Affleck: Has a bad rap because of the past couple years, but has actually showcased quite a bit of talent in the past. I'm psyched to see his directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, and it's already getting a lot of positive buzz.

Kristen Bell: Ok, so sort of cheating here, since I've actually only ever seen her in TV. But she's way too strong not to mention, and she's got a couple movies coming out.

Zach Braff: Even in the weaker movies he's appeared in, he manages to perform well. Also a great writer and director.

Michael Cera: Master of awkward comedy.

George Clooney: So SMARMY, but lovable. Can play his wit in one flick, and be dead serious in another.

Matt Damon: Bankable as an action star, also not too shabby when he's not kicking some ass.

Johnny Depp: Really needs little justification. One of the great actors of our time.

Robert Downey Jr.: All you need to do is watch Chapman and you'll see why he's here. Probably the best choice to play Iron Man, without a doubt it my mind.

Nathan Fillian: Ok, I'm cheating a little, cause I mostly know his TV work, but hey, he's my current man-crush, so I had to include him.

Jonah Hill: Part of the new generation of comedic actors, has been pretty much playing the same type of character, so we haven't seen much range from him yet, but he plays that one character type exceptionally well, and is actually working on writing and directing his own project, perhaps becoming a triple threat in the business.

Scarlett Johannson: Sadly, I feel like she's suffering from over-use and over-exposure. Still, I just have to think about Lost in Translation and I remember why I love her so.

[b]Keira Knightley:[b] My favourite leading lady, has shown class and ability far beyond her age.

Jason Lee: Not only an excellent comedic actor, but can also take on some more serious roles (though still playing the comic relief, usually).

Joseph-Gordon Levitt: Very underappreciate, but probably because he hasn't shown up in many mainstream movies. Most famous for his role on Third Rock From the Sun, is exceptional in Brick and The Lookout.

Jack Nicholson: Is pretty much genius in every single role he plays, and plays insanity better than anyone.

Edward Norton: Completely commits to whatever role he is playing, whether it be a neo-nazi in American History X or Bruce Banner in the upcoming Hulk flick.

Natalie Portman: Actually managed to not get typecast after Star Wars. Pretty impressive, and she managed to graduate from Havard while acting, no easy feat, I bet.

Ryan Reynolds: Hilarious actor, who totally got ripped off in his delivery of lines by Dane Cook. Also has shown his more serious side in a couple flicks, most notably done well in Smokin' Aces.

Alan Tudyk: Again with the cheating, sort of. Alan Tudyk is one of those actors who has small roles in a lot of movies. He's started to get larger ones though, and I'd like to see him in Death At A Funeral.

I've probably forgot a bunch, but I can edit them in or just add them later.

I cannot BELIEVE I forgot Edward Norton. Excellent, excellent actor. Hugh Jackman deserves a mention, too.

Quite the list there, Galedeep, with many I will agree on. There will no doubt be a few repeats here...

Brad Pitt- I'm quite surprised he's not had a mention already. A real charmer to the ladies, but also a very charasmatic actor. For me, Fight Club was his best role, playing Edward Norton's character's alter-ego. Seven also saw an outstanding performance, well worth a mention.

Edward Norton- From violent racist Nazi, to a seemingly reserved and strange office worker, I'm yet to see him fail to deliver.

Kurt Russell- I can never get tired of this guy, for some reason, I find all of his movies really watchable. He stars in one of my all time favourites, John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China, where he brilliantly portrays his character, an uncultured grunt-turned-unlikely hero. I'm still to see Death Proof, but I just know he'll make it for me.

Jack Nicholson- Out of the countless amount of movies he's been in, has he given a bad performance? From psychotic father to, uh, psychotic Joker!

Bill Murray- A man who never fails to put a smile on my face. Fond memories of him in Ghostbusters <3, Groundhog Day, Scrooged and later in Lost in Translation, amoung others.

Jason Lee- I've been a long time fan of Lee, even before he acted, when he was a pro skater, then of his earlier films under Kevin Smith. Mallrats and Chasing Amy, high up in my list of favourite movies, a lot of that down to his acting. His own series, My Name is Earl, is one of the best comedies i've seen in years. Not to mention his slightly famous father....

Samual L Jackson- Pulp Fiction...need I say more? Bad Mother****er!

Harrison Ford- Loved him as Solo, loved him as Jones, loved him as Deckard. He's a tremendous actor.

Michelle Pfeiffer- The finest actress in my book, in more ways than one. Tony Montana's "junkie wife", to Batman's Catwoman, to her brilliant role in Dangerous Minds. Fantastic.
