Remake of the Karate Kid?

Will Smith's Karate Kid - Boston.com

Jayden is way to young for that role.

They should wait a few years. I mean, 9? Come on.

And... the only reason he is gonna be in the movie is because he is the son of a celebrity, not because of any acting talent.

Pearl would be a much more suited actor for a Martial Arts movie.

In all seriousness: Will Smith will probably do anything to get his boy on the fast track to becoming and actor. I don't the age would be a major problem in regards to the stunts though. Now, it's likely that Jayden Smith has never taken karate lessons in his entire life, but that's not something a little camera affects/computer graphics/stunt double can't fix. Howsoever, story wise, I think he's definitely a little too young. I mean, 9 year olds aren't really picked on enough that it leads them to undergo a "karate kid" experience.

Besides, no one could ever truly replace the original Mr. Miyagi; especially Jackie Chan.

Yeah, I liked it, well, I like karate films, Since I do martial arts anyway. My favourite is unleashes, but thats not the point. I think his son is a bit young, I mean, the karate kid was like 14 or something, plus he had a girlfriend.

No kidding... I mean Jackie Chan is.. well he's Jackie frickin Chan, but he's not Mr. Miyagi - that's for damn sure.

Plus well... The karate kid was an alright movie at the time, but the sequels were... less than stellar.

I could understand a sequel...but a remake?

No-no-no-no-no-no-no! This cannot be happening!

The episode of South Park where they try to remake Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark comes to mind.

I'm not too keen on this. I remember watching the other Karate Kids, and they felt really old-school. Spawning with some random cliche' just makes it worse. Even I, the KING of randomness, has to say "wow.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG. My chest...my bloody chest....My outfit...."

Don't forget "Saving Private Ryan".

"With all guns replaced with walkie-talkies!"

Hmmm... I can't really see Jackie Chan as that kind of "old long-bearded Chinese martial-arts master" kind of guy, if you know what I mean. Not to mention, after that Rush Hour controversy, I can only think that he's doing movies for the money now. >.<

Have you seen persuit of happyness?
Yeah i know what your thinking that he only got that part because he was the son of will smith but actually its because they had the right chemistry for the role. He is quite amazing for a 9 year old.

That's true, but I first give the movie a chance before I judge critically on the movie. I guess I'll just have to watch it to see how it does when it comes out.

The Movie's only just over 20 years old. Does it seem a little early for a remake?

This remake could be good, but it is completely unnecessary.
