Favorite Light Saber Duel?

Which one do you like most? And which is the worst? In the pole there are two copys of each except that one says (favorite) and one says (worst). Pick two one for your fav and one for the worst. Don't pick two favorites please.

Anyways. I like the one between Obi Wan and Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. Very fast paced with lots of magma and stuff. Lots of things blowing up...

And my least favorite would have to be between Obi Wan and Vader in A New Hope... very boring. If you look back at what Obi Wan could do like 20-30 years before that it looks like childs play.

Revenge of the Sith had the best, and A New Hope had the worst. They're the opposites of eachother.

Revenge of the Sith definitely. Not only did it have more duels, it had much better duels. All in all, a great film for duels =P

I liked the duel between Yoda and Dooku, in Attack of the Clones. Also, I liked the ones in Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith, Between Obi-Wan and Anakin.

Definitely the highlight of that movie. But not enough to take my vote away from ROTS.

Yah. The fight between Yoda and Dooku was really good. But ROTS is better. Yoda and the Palpatine... that was cool. The platforms where going everywhere... very cool.

I think the duels in ROTS are great and very well done. If they had the technology they had now in the 70's and 80's, I beleive the OT duels would be the greatest. I mean, seeing Ben and Lord Vader in the first duel in episode 4 was great but it was very lame and just a series of cheesy back and forth strikes. If they could incoporate that technology they used in ROTS it would be totally killer.

I don't care what's said about the film itself, but I thought that the Phantom Menace had the best lightsaber duel in the whole saga. The 2 vs 1 battle at the end was incredibly well choreographed and really tense. Obi Wan getting seperated from the battle by the forcefields was brilliant and I love how Darth Maul was killed. Plus...that bit where Darth Maul uses the force to throw an object at the door to open it....pure class.

Agreed. Phantom Menace was great. The fights. Not the movie. Phantom Menace would be in second for me.

Well, let's see. I voted for The Empire Strikes Back, because I like that duel between Luke vs. Vader the best overall. The worst overall duel I feel is the Obi-Wan/Anakin/Yoda vs. Dooku duel. The best in terms of emotion is the Luke vs. Vader fight in Return of the Jedi, and the worst in terms of emotion is the Qui-Gon vs. Maul duel on Tatooine in The Phantom Menace. The best in terms of choreography is the Obi-Wan vs. Anakin duel in Revenge of the Sith, and the worst in terms of choreography is the Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel in A New Hope.

How come you didn't like the one between Dooku and Yoda/ Anakin/ Obi Wan?

Revenge of the Sith; basically because the Anakin vs Obi-Wan duel had so much emotion attatched to it; you had to love it. And it stuck to me like Superglue; it's the best duel, and when Anakin is on the bank, soon to be incinerated; you know that Darth Vader is going to be born.

The next in the pecking order; would be Empire Stikes Back, again due to emotion and the unexpected (well for for movie viewers back then)- 'Luke, I am your Father!'.

My favorite lightsaber duel is the one between Quigon/Obi Wan VS Darth Maul at the end of The Phantom Menace. The whole duel was awesome, and it was a big step forward from the fights of the origional movies.

For one, it was too short. As it stands now, Attack of the Clones is the longest Star Wars movie, and I consider it to be the second worst. The last act on Geonosis is really what saves it, but not by much. If this duel was longer, it could've helped things a lot. Obi-Wan fights Dooku for like thirty seconds. When Anakin comes on the scene, he seems to be doing pretty well and all of a sudden, his right arm gets cut off below the elbow. It's like, "huh?!" Also, all Yoda really does is hop around for about a minute and then Dooku runs away. The whole sequence is not very climactic. Also, the editing is really bad. The participants are all over the place. When Dooku is about to kill Obi-Wan while he's on the ground and Anakin jumps to block the blow, they are standing right over Obi-Wan. In the frame right after Obi-Wan tosses Anakin the other lightsaber, they're halfway across the hangar from him. Also, lots of things were cut from the duel, as one can see by looking at how the participants jump all over the hangar in the scenes. I'm not sure if the Obi-Wan vs. Dooku segment was longer, but the Anakin vs. Dooku segment was, and so was the Yoda vs. Dooku segment. In fact, for one part of their duel, Dooku was to pick up the blue lightsaber that Anakin was wielding and use it along with his red lightsaber to fight Yoda. There are pictures of this that can be found, but they weren't used. If the deleted segments were added back in, thus improving the editing of the sequence, and thus making the sequence longer, it would become a better duel.

I thought the battle itself was terrible. I thought Obi Wan and Anakin's fight was too short as well with Dooku owning them. And although I haven't seen Revenge of the Sith, I've heard that Anakin pummeled Dooku. I thought that was kind of a strange transition, it isn't too much after their last fight, is it? Anyways, I guess I would have to say that little Yoda bit was entertaining(and well, the reason why I wanted to watch "Clones") but the best duel that actually merited the length and intensity would be the one in Phantom Menance.

The Emporer perswaded Anikin into killing Dooku, so yeah he did more then own him he ripped him a new one.
