Nicolas Cage named his new baby boy after Superman!

Oh yes its true. Cage's son's name is Kal-el better known to us as Superman.

Can that news source be trusted? Im sure Nicolas Cage would not name his son Kal-el. And if so...Cage must be one of the biggest superman fans ever.

It's true actaully. I heard it on the news this morning.

Ugh! I'm scared now. It's kinda odd... I can't imagine going thogh life with the name of a scifi character. I don't mean to sound mean or anything, but still...

It's like when I was in WalMart and that woman referred to her child as "Galadriel"...

Still, IMO not as wierd as Gwenyth's "Apple Paltrow".

I'm quite surprized to be honest. I didn't know he was a Superman fan, however, I do know that he is a huge Elvis Prestly fan (he has many collections, played as an "Elvis Impersonator" in some movie, and then he married Elvis' one and only daughter for awhile) so I'm surprized he didn't name his son after Elvis.

Yeah i heard that on that David Spade show last night on Comedy Central. Wierd eh? I think he did it because its the hollywood way nowadays. Give your kid the goofiest name possible. No offense to superman, but its just not a good name.

that's pretty cool to me. i'm a huge fan of smallville (the show when superman is teenager clark kent and is developing his powers and learning about his destiny). i would never name my kids anything like that, but the fact that cage did is cool.

You have to feel bad for the baby. Just because his stupid father chose the name he'll be ridiculed for the rest of his life.

Very true. But sometimes when it comes to kids with ridiculous names, they just create nick-names. He could be named "Kal", "Kay", or something in the complete norm like "Kevin".

Yeah. I know I'm glad and grateful for how I am named today. Kal-el does sound like an infinitely stupid name. And stemming your child's name from a superhero dosen't sound too great. And what with the narrow mindedness of folks today, yes, he is basically done for life.

If I knew him I would call him Clark.

I wonder if Cage'll change his own name to Jor-El now?

But anyway, that was just stupid. I hope he'll reveal in some future interview that this was just a joke and his son's real name is Chris or something.

Kal by itself isn't that bad a sounding name. It's not totally normal, but still... Now, Kal-El, I don't know. I'm not as put off by it as others. (Being a Smallville fan may have something to do with that). Still, naming him something like Clark Kent Cage or the like would have been a safer way to pay homage to Superman.

Fact about Nicholas Cage: he almost got a role as Superman in a movie that never got made. He even got the Superman suit made for his role in the movie.

i didn't know that, but i don't think he would have made a good superman. he just doent have the right vibe for superman.
