Advent Children shown at the Venice Film Festival

So...after years of waiting Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is finally complete. It was shown for the first time at the Venice Film Festival and reportedly some major Japanese FFVII fans actually broke into tears because they loved it so much.
The English dubbed version is almost complete, so it can be expected by the end of the year or early next year. For anyone who can't wait that long, an entire synopsis of the movie can be found at the below link. I chose not to read it, and I stronly urge anyone who does not want to know anything about the movie to leave it alone. But hey, I'll post it anyway...just in case anyone's interested....

Fantastic. This will truly capture FF:VII in it's essence, and critics will have to give it props. This movie, I mean, I've been waiting for it for what seemed like eternity...it had better evoke strong feelings. It's so weird how now it's falling within reach.

Re: Advent Children shown at the Venice Film Festival

Yeah...it's so damn close! Plus, this thread is outdated. It had its japanese premiere last night and will be released in Japan on DVD and UMD in about four days. No official release for the American or European releases though...

Re: Advent Children shown at the Venice Film Festival

Only English cast I know of at this point in time are:
Chris Edgerly as Cid Highwind
Michelle Ruff as Elena

As expected they are getting current anime voice actor(ess) to do the voices and not the ones from Kingdom Hearts.

Yeah, I saw those two voices as well. Cloud is probably going to be done by the guy who did him in Kingdom Hearts.

I seriously doubt you'll see any of the actors who did the voices in Kingdom Hearts doing the voices in Advent Children.

And also it looks like the US release of Advent Children will not have the Last Order OAV on it. In fact it looks like Last Order is never gonna see a US release.

Really? The Japanese Kingdom Heats actors did Advent Children so I just assumed it would be the same here. Whatever...
I'm not too worried about Last Order though. I'm certain it won't get a release here. I mean, if America doesn't get it I very much doubt Europe will. There's always the internet though...

Last Order...is that the story that tells what takes place in the two years between the end of FFVII and FFVII Advent Children? I thought it was a book. Whoops. But as long as FFVII: AC is released on DVD in the states, then I'm fine. I don't have a PSP because I don't have enough money for one.

No, Last Order is a short anime movie that you get if you buy the special edition of Advent Children. It basicly tells the story of the Nibelheim Reactor mission that Sephiroth, Zack and Cloud went on six years prior to FFVII.
The short stories that fill in the gap between FFVII and AC are called On the Way to a Smile. I made a thread about them in General Gaming if you're interested. You can read translated versions of the first two episodes with the link I provided.

That's because the Jap voice actorss are for the most part seasoned anime voice actors. The american ones, on the other had, are all hollywood actors and most have never done an anime voice over before or since.

For a side note if anyone can't wait to watch AC I give give you a link to where you can download it, but you'll have to PM me as it is slightly against the rules to post it in the forum.

This is so annoying. It was supposed to be released on September 13. Now it's been pushed back till late November. Anyone know if there's going to be a small theatrical release?

There already was one in Japan, but it's very unlikely that there will be one in America or Europe. Unless all the fans get together and BEG.
Don't count on it...
Actually, I read that AC wasn't designed for a cinema release. Apparently, the creators want you to be watching it on DVD or UMD so that you have the ability to rewind or use slow motion during the action sequences so that fans can get every little detail in. Also, I read in a review, that the fact that AC's CGI isn't as up to scratch as the big names' movie is visibly clear on the big screen. Personally, I'm pretty content watching it on DVD.

Re: Advent Children shown at the Venice Film Festival

broke into tears eh!

well if that happend then I supposed I can expect great things from AC....just kidding, I know that AC will be great, the only thing that I was slightly worried about is that the voice acting might not go over all that fluidly, and hopefully there will not be any plot changes...

well I was hoping for it to come out a bit sooner than the end of year but hey that is fine...I guess that only question that I have is:

will the movie be playing in theaters or will it just come out on DVD?

Re: Advent Children shown at the Venice Film Festival

Dayum!!!

FFVII: AC is AMAZING! It is wayyyyyy better than I was expecting it to be! The plot is great (very emotive & touching) but it pales severely in comparison to the action. Hands down one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'll give it an easy 9.5/10.

The voice acting was great as well. I've you've not played the game you won't have a clue whats going on, but you'll still love it anyway - just 'cause of the awesome action scenes.

p.s. The wheelchair person is not who you think it is o_o

DUDE!!! Don't ruin it!

EDIT: Well, I've seen it now. Wow. It appears you didn't ruin anything. I was well aware of who the wheelchair guy was.
