The Best Movies Ever Made

Having failed to see a thread of a similar nature in Movies forum I only feel it appropriate that a "Best Movies Ever" thread be started. Now, while I would not normally start a thread of this nature with less than a month's experience in this forum, you've got to start somewhere, I suppose. But anyway, I digress...

Did you ever see a film that was just so plain incredible that you couldn't tear yourself away? A movie that made you laugh, cry, glued you to the screen, or grabbed at your insides and refused to let go? Well, if that is the case, than state it here. If it is an original with a remake please make sure that it is clearly stated which, and, if at all possible, state your reasons for being including it in this thread.

Even though this a "Best Movies Ever" discussion, try to only list movies that you have seen, don't stab in the dark. Also, leave your predispositions at the door and don't include movies that you like only because a certain actor is in it, for nostalgia, ect. You can go right ahead and list movies from any genre, remember, these are the best movies ever.

As for me, one the best movies I've ever seen is The Shawshank Redemption. I cried twice during this film, either this is one good movie or I am the biggest wuss on planet Earth. Great stuff. Schindler's List, again, is an incredibly moving film, you almost forget that it is in black and white. There's more but I want to see if you guess 'em.

Oh, yeah, and no consulting (the all-powerful) IMDB.com. *shakes fist angrily*

So, c'mon, what do you think are the best movies ever made?

My favorite movie would have to be The Crow. It just put so well together, and was perfect in my opinion. I cried at the end of it all just because It packed a punch at the end. Brandon Lee was nearly flawless in it(rest his soul). It was a shame he died in the making.

Re: The Best Movies Ever Made

Pulp Fiction. It has simply the greatest written script in film history. Amazingly, almost every line of dialogue is quotable. The characters are brilliant, and the "back and forth three stories" method is really well done. Although it's not really a comedy it has some of the funniest moments in the world of film. "I just shot Marvin in the face!" "He hid it in the only place he knew no one would find it- up his ass."
It is just simply a remarkable movie and I never get tired of watching it.

My other favorites include...the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Star Wars IV-VI and Princess Mononoke.

Quoted for truth. I couldn't agree more with every statement made. I think I'll sit down and watch it again tonight.

And though it would seem alot of people disagree, I like Kill Bill in the same respect. I'm not sure if I like it more than Pulp Fiction, but I'd say it's pretty close. I found that movie to be excellent in every aspect imagineable. Tarantino's a wonderful director.

"No man's Land", a Slovenian war film.

Also.. the Original Hitchcock classic, Psycho. After sitting down and thinking about it alot (duh.. studing it in English), it shares many of the traits of modern thriller and horrors.
