Eragon Movie

I was looking around the Eragon site to see when the next book is coming out, and I saw that they're going to make a movie on the books!

I checked the international movie database, and it's true! The author is going to play a small part in it, and guess who else is going to be in it! The voice of Scar from The Lion King! Is that weird or what?

What do you think? Will the movie do well? The director has done special effects for many, many movies, such as Jurrasic park and Twister, but this is his first time directing. Personally, I hope they don't ruin it. I'm looking forward to seeing previews of it. They'd better do a good job! The author will be with them, so hopefully he'll make sure they don't mess it up.

Well, I havent read the books. (shame on me) but I am looking forward to the day that I will read them. I also was browsing some of the Eragon websites, when I found out there would be a movie made as well. Although I hope that I am able to read the books before the movies come out.

Series? It's a trilogy. There's only 1 book out right now.. Eldest came out tuesday.

Uh... yeah. It'd be pretty good if they did it right, though I hope it will be based more on the book than the movie. Actually, the movie's been known of for a while now. I found out about it a month or two after I finished the book (I bought Eragon a few datys [maybe a week] after it came out). http://www.shurtugal.com is great for movie info.

I read Eragon when it first came out. It's a really good book, and if you haven't read it yet, then I suggest you did. I also got Eldest too, haven't read it yet though. I might have to read Eragon again because I forgot a few things that happened. Anyway, the movie should be good. There's probably going to make all three of the books into movies.

I'm halfway through Eldest. This is my favorite book trilogy/series ever. Seriously ... its way better than Harry Potter, by far. I had to buy Eldest on the opening day, right after my registration. W00t. It's a great great book ... but a movie on the trilogy?! oO

There's going to be so much to put in it ... I saw that Christopher Paolini (author) is going to play a beheaded soldier ... how nice.

WHAT?! That's his part? I thought he'd have a more important role, maybe as Eragon! Then again, that would give him little time to write the third book.

I doubt it. Just because you're an author does not grant you acting abilities. This could be the case anyway-- and this is also why J.K. Rowling chose not to make any cameos. But yeah, cameos are great little things. Tolkein's grandson played a soldier(with dialogue/some emphasis), I think.

Well, crap. That's probably going to suck. Eragon would be a very difficult book to make into a movie, I dunno... it's just... wrong somehow, the way every moderately successful children's book gets butchered up into a movie. Well, at least the Artemis Fowl movie announced a few years ago hasn't surfaced yet. Thank God.

Yeah, the moviemakers seem to have lost some creativity since they're turning so many books and comics into movies. Some are good and some aren't. However, I think Eragon will be a great movie.

I have never read the books. But I have one thingh to say. YEEEAH, JEREMY IRONS! Yes, he's the guy who was Scar from TLK.

I am sooo exicted about this movie...I can't wait until December 15th!!!

Dude, check out the dates. This thread is old. Anyway, I don't know what to think about this movie. The book was pretty good, but it wasn't the best.

I cannot wait. It's my favorite book series of all time, and I'm sure Hollywood won't butcher it like it did to the Hitchhiker's Guide series.
