Ever see Pumpkinhead?

Those of you who haven't seen it need to know one thing, the monster doesn't have a pumpkin for a head. As for those of you who either A) Saw it when it came out in 1988 or B) Saw it one of the rare sweet moments that it's on SciFi, how did you like it?

I loved it and to date it's my favorite horror/monster movie. It was the perfect mix of violence, gore, and creepiness. It isn't that scary but it's a good movie. Don't judge it by the 1994 sequel though. Pumpkinhead 2 was a sorry sack of crap. It was ok until the ending. The ending was one of the corniest, retarded, dumb endings I have ever seen.
What do you think of the movies?

Honestly I have never even heard of it. It does sound corny though.

Re: Ever see Pumpkinhead?

I really don't know why it was called Pumpkinhead but other than the dumb name and the crappy sequel, there are a million reasons why you should see it.
***SPOILER WARNING!!!!!***
Pumpkinhead is a demon that is the physical being of vengeance. He is summoned by this one guy because some teenagers accidentally ran his son over with motorcycles. He brings his son's corpse to
an old witch and gets her to summon Pumpkinhead using both his blood and his son's. The demon is summoned and goes out to kill the teenagers.

The teenagers are staying in a cabin and they are each killed in different grotesque ways by Pumpkinhead. One of my favorite parts is when two of the remaining teenagers are inside the cabin trying to hide and they see the face of one of their friends pressed against the window. The face slides around the glass a little before being shoved through. One of them faints and the other grabs a knife. Pumpkinhead comes through the open door and is about to drag away the person who fainted but is attacked by the other person. Pumpkinhead grabs his hand, breaks it, and throws him across the room before grabbing the person who fainted and taking that person away to kill later.

***END OF SPOILERS***
Thats not the only good part in the movie but you can get a slight idea of what happens. He kills people in other nasty ways. Including stabbing someone through the chest with their own rifle.

Re: Ever see Pumpkinhead?

I saw Pumpkinhead 2 on SciFi two years ago. It was one of the rare horror movies I liked and would see. Although, I don't really remember much of the movie.

You must not remember the ending well.

Re: Ever see Pumpkinhead?

I've seen it, and i didn't think it was that great.

For me to consider a horror movie good, it has to have one of the following:

-Has to be scary

-Has to be interesting

Pumpkinhead was neither to me, sorry.

Pumpkinhead is good because it is the right mix of everything. It isn't too scary or bloody but the perfect mix. A movie that was all scary but no blood, gore, suspense, or creepiness
(wonder how that would work) would suck. If it only had a lot of one single factor but not enough of the others it isn't good. Pumpkinhead is a good mix of them and although it isn't
scary enough for anyone else's tastes, think about it. If you were the main character of almost any horror movie you would be scared ****less whether it were a posessed girl or an ugly ass demon after you.

lol
good point

but what are you defining "creepy" as, because if something is really creepy it's the same as scary, because you get tense.
Gore and violence when done to excess is not scary, it's just retarded and trying too hard
