Well that sucked.
Did anyone see the movie "The Village"?? I saw it quite a while ago and it sucked! So if your thinking of watching it...DONT!. All it is, is people dressed up in monster suits to keep the people of the village away from the real world. It's really good at the start because you dont know whats going on and you think there is really monsters out there...but dissapointment hurts. I mean this guy got stabbed several times by this other jealos guy and he didnt die. I was like wtf? Anyway i thought it was very lame. What did you guys think. However Pirates of the caribean was really cool tell me what you think about that too. I liked Captain Jack Sparrow and that the best ive ever seen Jonny Depp do. I think he was in edward sciccor hands???

Re: Well that sucked.
Moved to Movies & Hollywood.
Quite frankly, I thought The Village was an interesting movie. Not really must-see material or one of the best films out there, but it certainly wasn't that bad, and especially not for the reasons that you say it is. I actually liked the fact that you went in thinking this was a horror flick, only to find out what the village itself is really all about. I thought it was much better than some cheap horror flick, which is what I was expecting when I saw it.

Re: Well that sucked.
Meh- I didn't like The Village- I found it boring to be honest. It wasn't the worst movie ever- it just didn't scare me. My friends loved it though- they all thought that it was sooo creepy. I laughed when I saw "those of whom we do not speak" (well, something like that- I saw the movie a while ago) and I remember thinking: holy crap, that looks fake... and then when the movie was over, I laughed some more cause I was right. But like I said, I know people who enjoyed it.

Re: Well that sucked.
I really loved the Village. All my friends hated it, but I thought it was really interesting and, most importantly, original movie. I can understand why someone wouldn't like it. It's not one of those movies that I'm going to defend and insist that it's a good movie no matter what anyone says. I liked the way that it wasn't like a standard horror move. I bet many people watched it expecting another horror cliche, but it really was so much more.
It great and original pieces like the Village that make me a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan.

Re: Well that sucked.
I didn't realy like it because I was expeting a horror movie. Boy was I ever wrong. I have to say it was M. Night's worst movie. I liked his movie Signs though, that was a fun one.
And yes, Pirates of the Carribean was good but what does that have to do with the village? Edit- Dang, my new avatar creeps even me out when I'm expecting my old one. *shudders*

Re: Well that sucked.
I liked The Village. It wasn't The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable, but it was still worth watching.
The biggest difference I noticed is that the storyline seems to move much slower than in any of the other movies. There were a few scary moments, like whenever the monsters would enter the town, but generally, it was pretty tame. Not a bad thing; just different. The token "M. Night Shymalan Twist" was nearly as shocking or surprising, but it was still satisfying. It was a movie not only about the individual characters, but also the nature of society as a whole.

Re: Well that sucked.
I was pretty dissapointed, but it wasn't too bad
I knew going in that the elders were faking the monsters, but the one good part of the movie was when you're led to believe that the monsters are in fact real only to get PO'd when you find out that it was just that stupid retard

Another Shalaman wonder.
It was very cliche'd and I was expecting it all the way through. I hate how they build up suspense and do something totally lame like . I almost went on a killing spree over that ****ing let down. Signs is absoulutely no different...so is STUART LITTLE! What happened to the nuclear war? That was totally coming! ![]() Quote:

Scary? Seeing a guy in an ugly costume moving around like a drunk grandma isn't my idea of "scary".

Re: Well that sucked.
"The Village" was a huge dissapointment for many, but for me, it wasn't, well, HORRIBLE.
Compared to P. Knight Shamylan's other films, it doesn't quite "up to par". People had high standards for this movie.

Re: Well that sucked.
Now, look at the village through this perspective....
If you have never ever seen and M knight shamalan movie in your life, you'de probably like The Village, sure the trailers were misleading, but the movie itself was rather satisfying in my opinion. Of course, I have seen every Shamalan movie, and, unfortunantly I new what to expect, some sort of twist that totally changes the whole film. Unfortunantly the twist happened way too soon, though the movie had quite the climax, it could have been better if "the big secret" was carried on for longer. Unbreakable is still my favourite Shamalan movie, my second being Signs.

Re: Well that sucked.
It definitely left you wanting more. Personally, I thought the plot twists were kind of weak and aside from a few suprise moments where a creature pops out un-expectedly, it wasnt very scary. Not the worst movie ever but it could have been better IMO.

there was an actual lady stabbed more than 50 times and she lived, and no thats not defending the movie. though i did like it, i liked the fact that
i dont consider this at all a "horror flick" more mystery than horror, and for some reason people get horror and thriller confused, thriller is used for more suspensful movies.
