Foreign films

Does anyone here watch foreign films, do you have a favorite?

I really like "Drunken Angel" a 1948 Japanese movie but I would have to say that my favorite foreign film is Pan's Labyrinth.

Re: Foreign films

I take it you mean movies that are not spoken in English? =)

I'm very fond of several asian movies, among others.

- Hero
- House of Flying Daggers
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- Infernal Affairs

- Pan's Labyrinth

Animated:
- Byousoku 5 Centimeter Per Second
- Voices of a Distant Star
- Most Ghibli movies

Nah, I guess that's more or less the definition of foreign films :p

I've seen "The Place Promised in Our Early Day", but I must admit that I was rather sleepy and didn't quite grasp it. I'll have to see it again some day =)

It was the same way with me but after you watch it a second or third time you understand and appericiate the story more. I personaly like this one the most out of Makoto's other two movies. I can't wait for his next one to come out.

Re: Foreign films

Hero and House of Flying Daggers were actually good action movies in terms of story. The plot was decent, the twist in story was executed at the right time, and the action was very imaginative (wouldn't expect less of a Chinese martial arts movie).

Then there's Curse of the Golden Flower, which I have to say is one of my all-time favourite foreign films.

I also enjoyed Crimson River with Jean Reno, who is also one of my favourite actors. Movie was not the best, but I really enjoyed it more than I do most conspiracy thrillers.

Re: Foreign films

I watched a French movie (in my Film and Lit class) that was "He loves me, He loves me not" in english. I thought the movie was pretty sweet. I for one love watching foreign movies and TV shows. I enjoy the act of subtitles.

Re: Foreign films

I have hundreds of Asian movies. Mostly horrors, though. Asian film directors are the only ones who knows how to make horror movies nowadays..

Kung Fu Hustle is my favorite movie, not a horror, but funny as hell. Battle Royale a nice second place, followed by Spirited Away.

Re: Foreign films

Uh, to be completely honest.. The only foreign "asian" movies I've seen and liked are Godzilla and The Host.
