Who should have played Anakin Skywalker (besides Hayden Christensen)?

I've always thought some answers to this question were interesting.

I think we can all agree that Hayden has the emotional range of a cardboard box, so who do you think should've been Anakin?

I say Mark Hamil.

Anyone but Hayden Chirstensen?

You know umm..i think Heath Ledger should have been Anakin. Ledger was a really good actor and could have done it.

I am going to disagree. I didnt care for his acting for that character at all. The kid who played ickle Ani was actually better.

Yeah, I didn't think he was too bad either.

I think he messed up the movies, (he was better in the third) because he made the main character boring, and unentertaining. I was sad whenever Obi-Won left the screen because I knew all we'd have then was Anakin : /.

But, I have no alternatives because I wouldn't care much as long as they acted better.

You all do know that Hayden acted as he did because of George Lucas's direction, right? Even Hayden himself didn't like the script and the way Anakin was written, but once a contract is signed, one doesn't have much choice in the matter.

He was damned impressive in the Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel on Mustafar, though (they both were).

We all know Lucas wasn't performing as well as he did when making A New Hope, but has anyone seen the movie Jumper? Haydn can't act. Fact.

But he was pretty good in Awake.

He was impressive in the first half of the third because he was Anakin as Anakin should be, not some whiny ♥♥♥♥♥. Anakin is supposed to be the most arrogant person in the room.

Lucas is ♥♥♥♥ as a director, but that only counts if everyone did a bad job acting. Hayden is still a pretty mideocre actor, imo.
