Halloween II

The upcoming sequel to Rob Zombie's reimagining of the original classic.

I saw ZOmbie's remake of Halloween, and I have to say, its ok. Better than most of the sequels at least. My biggest problem is the cliche in Michael's origin: bad life that drives kid over the edge. Haven't we heard that before? This Halloween also seems more Friday the 13th in terms of violence. It also has less mystery in it, though I must say, Michael Myers still looks cool.

I saw the trailer for the sequel, and it looks promising, though the tagline "Family is Forever" seemed to fit more to a family film.

Whaddya all think?

The originals were much, much, much better.

Re: Halloween II

I have to agree with the terrible childhood. I mean how can it be anything but surprising that this kid turned out the way he did? I would have liked it much better if he lived in a decent home. The type of home you would never suspect a future monster to grow up in. I think if Michael were to brutally kill his family in this condition, it would be more frightening.

Because we expect people from that kind of home to turn out bad.

har har har.

After the original Halloween, the series went down hill pretty quick. Compared to the sequels that the original film spawned, the new flick wasn't that bad.

The origin thing is pretty bland though. Micheal Myers was awesome just because he was evil, nothing more.

The tagline is suppose to be an uber-creepy thing, when they say "Family is Forever" they're kind of being sarcastic.

Re: Halloween II

What makes the Halloween series great is the fatc that something like this could actually happen and i'm not talking about the fact that Michael Myres won't die. I'm just saying that some insane person from a mental institue can escape and start killing , wheather it is family or not. I think that's why it ranks up as one of the best horror films of all time. The origional is better but the remake was also good. The major difference is, besides the story behind it all, is the fact that Michael is more aggresive in the new movies where as he was more suspenseful when it came to killing.
The new movie looks good and I heard that they filmed 4 hours of screen time but of course cut it down for time purposes.

Actually no. I went in to see Halloween (remake) believing it would suck balls like all the other remakes out there and since Rob Zombie made some films before that werent very good, i braced myself for pain. What did i get? A really amazing film! Zombie finally learned how to be a decent director and really made an interesting and almost complex Michael Myers. It was really good! So yeah i amazed by the first film, so i want to see this one. It looks pretty decent from the trailer. Michael Myers seems to be after his sister and kills everyone in his wake. Atleast thats what i gathered. It comes out next week and i will be seeing it.

Re: Halloween II

It has come. The movie has come.

Rotten Tomatoes show higher reviews than the previous one.

Re: Halloween II

I thought it was pretty damn good. It brought something new to the table.. Rather than repeating the same crap over and over again.

And I love how the film leaves you questioning certain things that happened in the film.. Like - Was that real, or just the result of a really f#cked up person?

I thought RZ's first attempt was okay. Didn't care for the middle bits of the film.. But I did love the childhood stuff and the parts that retold Carpenter's original story. Though both were too short.

I loved Laurie and the other girls in H1.. But they barely had any screen time.. So the fact that H2 is all about Laurie with a side of Annie, made me very happy. Though I very much miss Lynda.

So yeah.. Thought it was a good movie. The original two films were much scarier.. But RZ's are more interesting, I think. Rather than having Michael be some unstoppable force that came crawling out of Hell.. He's just a really big guy who can take a beating and has some reason for being such a psychopath.
