Worst and Best Disney Movies

Disney had been one of the greatest animation studios in the day but more recently in the 2000s they became obsessed with live action and CGI. So my questions are for you guys is what are you favorite and least favorite disney films? Do you prefer CGI over regular animation. Do you like the live action disney films or do you not prefer them?

My worst list:
Home on the range
Hannah Montanna:The Movie
Atlantis The Lost Empire
Any direct to video sequel of good disney films(Bambi II,Fox and The hound 2)
Treasure Planet

Re: Worst and Best Disney Movies

Hand animation is my favorite by far. CGI is a joke in comparison. Not that there aren't any good CGI movies, but hand animation is much longer lasting imo, provides more interesting color pallets scenes etc. I've seen a few live action Disney movies, but I don't really attribute them to Disney. My mind partitions things that are true Disney and just some movies automatically =P. Toy Story was the CGI. I personally love 101 dalmatians for nostalgic reasons, but The Lion King, Bambi, etc are all amazing.

Disney has really gone down the drain with Hannah Montana, Jonas Bros., etc...

Hey! What was wrong with Atlantis? The second one was ♥♥♥♥, but the first one was pretty damn good.

Treasure Planet also does not belong on that list. I don't remember Home on the Range that well, but it seemed reasonably entertaining at the time.

Save your worst list for stuff like The Black Cauldron.

As for the best? Uh, put Mulan on there, I guess. It's been a while since I've seen most of the Disney classics.

Stinking lies. That movie was actually pretty good, just horribly underrated.

Home on the Range is the worst they ever put out in theatres as a feature. I never saw the stuff like Chicken Little and im glad i didnt. I hardly count the pop star stuff as feature films but ehh who knows. I see it more as a cash cow.

I idolized those books as a kid. When I finally sat down to watch the movie, I realized they ♥♥♥♥ed the hell out of them.

I see. I never read those books but i did enjoy the film very much. Perhaps its because i didnt read those books. The visuals of that film were great though! You cannot deny that the Horned King and the scene involving the rise of his army werent cool!

Re: Worst and Best Disney Movies

I'm only going to do animation/mixed animation, and Pixar for now.

The Best
Dumbo - This likely entirely personal preference, because I just love this movie to bits, but don't know much about how others view it. The Pink Elephants on Parade sequence has some great animation, as well.
Cinderella - Amazing animation, great characters, solid story, good songs.
Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan - Captain Hook and Smee as they appear in this film are some of the best characters ever crafted by the studio.
One Hundred and One Dalmations - Cruella DeVille is still one of my favourite Disney villains ever, and this as a great animation style.
Mary Poppins - Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke form the best duo.
Robin Hood - Playing the nostalgia card, I adored this movie as a kid. I wanted to be the Robin Hood in this movie, even if he was a fox.
The Little Mermaid - Ursula is the greatest Disney villain, ever. Plus, awesome musical numbers and great animation.
Beauty and the Beast - Hello, Best Picture nominee.
Aladdin
The Lion King
Toy Story
Monster's, Inc. - This movie made me bawl like a child the first time I saw it.
Finding Nemo - Still one of my favourites from Pixar.
Wall-E - One of my favourite movies, ever.
Up

The Good
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - Though the first full-length feature for the company, and a great film in its own right, it doesn't quite stand up to the test of time. Though it used to scare the crap out of me as a kid.
Pinochio
Bambi - Iconic and important, but lacking in a structured plot.
Lady and the Tramp - This is probably only down here because I don't remember a lot of it very well, it's been a few years.
The Sword in the Stone - I actually really love this movie, but I can't in good conscience put it amongst the best.
The Jungle Book - Down here despite having one of my favourite musical numbers from a Disney film.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks - Another really good one, but one I can't put amongst the best.
The Rescuers - Some might even put this with 'The Bad,' but not me.
The Great Mouse Detective - This one might even be a bit underrated.
The Rescuers Down Under - So much better than the original.
Hercules - A lot of fun, but not excellent.
Mulan - This is really close to moving up to "The Best"
A Bug's Life
The Emperor's New Groove
The Incredibles
Ratatouille
Enchanted - Not only clever in a lot of ways, but actually really enjoyable.

The Bad
Sleeping Beauty - Aside from Maleficent and the Three Fairies, this movie had nothing interesting about it.
The Fox and the Hound - A lot of people really love this movie, I never got the appeal, and it contains one of the only songs from a Disney film that I can't stand.
Pocahontas - Did not like this movie at all, aside from "Colors of the Wind."
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Do not like anything about this movie.
Tarzan - Some good animation, but not much else.

Sleeping Beauty is a GORGEOUS movie tho. Although I admit the story is somewhat eh, it tells a classic story and does it very prettily. Underrated imo

*tear* Those two are among my favorites. Along with Lady and the Tramp. that one in particular was a huge part of my childhood.

But yes i agree here. those three are probably my most hated, most particularly Pocahontas and Hunchback. Good god those were bad. UGH!

I love that movie to bits!

Im under the impression that Malefacent was actually among the most evil and best villains, not Ursula. Although clever and well portrayed, Ursula struck me as annoying more.

Re: Worst and Best Disney Movies

Anything after around 2000 or so is crap. Look at the terrible influences that Disney provides to children, brainwashing them to think that the Jonas Brothers and Ciley Myrus are hot (that's a laugh). There have been some good Disney films recently though, Up and Horton Hears a Who were good, although, I think that might have been Dreamworks.

I actually was a big fan of Sleeping Beauty as well, but recent viewings have made me pay more attention to its faults.

Maleficent was a great villain, but Ursula had more...charisma. More character. Maleficent was pure evil, and came off that way. Ursula was pure evil, but could sweet-talk when she needed to.

Agreed. The movie has a few elements that the book had, which screwed the movie.

High School Musical 1/2/3- Really? People constantly singing in High School? Don't forget the cheesy lyrics and dancing!

I need to see Up.

That is a bald face lie. Lilo & Stitch was probably one of the most original Disney movies to come out of the Post-Disney Renaissance of the Ninety's.

My list of Worst Disney Movies is actually small because I enjoy watching them all.
-A dislike all of the direct to video Sequels they made on principle. If you can take the time to invest enough money into making it a feature production, don't bother making it.
-Home on The Range

The Best Disney Movies are really everything out of the Renaissance.
-The Little Mermaid
-Beauty and The Beast <- Nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award
-Aladdin
-The Lion King
-Pocahontas
-The Hunchback of Notre Dame (While it only shallowly resembles Victor Hugo's book, the music was phenomenally atmospheric. Tony Jay's Hellfire anyone?)
-Anything from Pixar. ANYTHING.

What it think this all boils down to is that this thread isn't so much which movies were the best and worst and more like which movies did we enjoy or not enjoy. I'll admit, it doesn't take much to please me when it comes to animation. All I ask for is excellent animation, and a decent story that isn't cheesy. Yet other people aren't as easily impressed. I think it is a little unfair to call something The Worst Disney movie simply because you didn't like.

It is and it isn't. When it was first produced and distributed, it was done by Touchstone, which is owned by Disney. Then when it was rereleased in 3D recently, it was under the Disney banner. So it kind of is and isn't.
