Price of Persia: The Movie

SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT THE THREAD TITLE.

Not what you'd expect, are they? Really clean, and modern. No tacky "Persian" logo, no silly pose modelled off a game cover. Nothing tipping you off to the fact this is a movie based on a video game series.

Which, after Max Payne and Hitman, is probably a smart way of going about it.
So yeah, not much to say other than this is the first official poster and that it looks promising from this single image. Lol.

It's a Disney movie though, so I can't see it being too 'out there' gore wise (I was thinking it would be something along the lines of 300's gore, but maybe not.)

I'm really loving the aesthetics of the poster.

I'm pretty over all the ****ing tacky logos for movies. It was starting to make my eyes bleed.

Yeah. Other than looking a little 'Soft Light', it looks pretty solid.

EDIT: LOL PRICE OF PERSIA.

I don't know the mods for this section because I never come here, but can someone please correct this (Price to Prince.)

Re: Price of Persia: The Movie

I thought this movie was just a rumour, but they finally got a poster out. And it's the best I've seen of any movie so far. Simple, yet very eye-grabbing. Not the typical fancy wording you see nowadays.

But this may turn off some PoP fans. Disney? Maybe if they don't lose the character's personality (which Disney movies have none of), and choreography stays in essence with the game's, then I don't think there should be much of a problem.

Re: Price of Persia: The Movie

As a PoP fan and an action-movie fan, I'm really looking forward to this. Poster looks great, and the Prince's costume seems slightly similar to his Warrior Within outfit. Now I'm just waiting for a trailer. Even the "Defy the Future" seems to pay attention to the theme of the game, where the Prince tries more and more desperately to avoid and change the future until he finally learns to take consequence for his action.

Heard the guy who's playing The Prince is a good actor and not only that, Disney is also working with a few Obisoft writers so this might be it!

Re: Price of Persia: The Movie

The price of Persia is quite a lot.

This movie could work. The game has a good story to it. I'd see it. Makes me want to get the Prince of Persia games since I sadly have never played them except for the new one. -_________-

Jake Gyllenhal? Yeah, he's a good actor. Ever watch Brokeback Mountain?

I'm not sure if they're working with Ubisoft writers, but they are working with JORDAN MECHNER, the genius behind the original Prince of Persia and a strong force in the series' development.

I just hope the musical score for the movie does it justice. Warrior Within, as much as I loved it, really didn't fit in with the Prince of Persia in its soundtrack.

At this point, having Will Smith's head photoshopped onto an image of Oh Dae-su holding the hammer and we'll really get a sense of how far the human race has progressed.

Re: Price of Persia: The Movie

There's been alot of controversey invlolving a Caucasian playing a Persian, and as a result, my own friends are shunning this film altogether. The fact that this was being made by Disney didn't help either. Me? I've never played the games but I find it strange that a Caucasian is playing a Persian. One of. But I'm hoping this movie doesn't end up like a video game, which was the case for Terminator Salvation (that movie was a letdown but thats not the point)

Re: Price of Persia: The Movie

I had a hard time picture Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince. But with the poster, I can't think of anyone better.

I can't wait to see the trailer.

I heard they didn't hire a REAL sorcerer to play the Vizier in the movie too. Another reason to boycott.

I'm expecting the movie to be like Pirates of the Caribbean or National Treasure: A light-hearted, family friendly action movie that probably won't win any Oscars, but has the potential to be a fun, pleasing flick.

This movie can only go 2 ways. Either be really good, or really bad.

Re: Price of Persia: The Movie

If they don't take the source material seriously, this movie will fail miserably just like every other video game movie.

I never understood why they wouldn't take the source material seriously? I mean I don't mind certain changes as to best adapt it to the screen. But why butcher it to pieces? You already have a successful story on your hands? Same goes for books and such.

They just like to be as "original" as possible, even with pre-existing source material.

Just be glad that Uwe Boll isn't the director.
