Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Comes out next week.
Whos stoked about this one? I am. I'm interested to see how they present this book on film. I have a feeling its going to be far better in execution than the last movie (err...).

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I hope so. The last movie was not very good. The actress for um, Umbridge was really good, but just how the plot was presented and panned out was awful.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

My plan is to go on next Friday afternoon to see it; I have high hopes! I really have found each subsequent movie to be better than the last.

(I like the books better, though, I'll admit.)

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I think this movie is going to fail. The last movie sucked with the exception of how Umbridge was portrayed, and with this movie going back to PG it won't be nearly as dark and emotional as the original book.

meh, the first two movies were good, the rest were awful and half the plot wasn't even relevant to the book.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I don't know if I'll end up seeing this in theatres. I mostly find the movies to be visual plot summaries of the books, so the only reason I'd actually go see them for money anymore is if I have friends who feel the need.

It's one of the only two books that I've read, so this is the first time that I will care if it's like the book.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I've never really been greatly impressed with the Harry Potter movies. I mean, I can watch them and enjoy them, but I've read the books too many times to fully enjoy them, because I'm always remembering things that they've left out *facepalm*

I expect I'll go see this one though, even though I'm not really that bothered about it. I hope since they're splitting it into two halves then it will be better than the rest. (It was this one that they were splitting in two, right? that was the last I'd heard.)

The reason was because they left out the battle scene after the big spoiler moment according to wikipedia. However rotten tomatoes has already given the film a 94% i believe so aside from some things being left out (although not nearly as butchered as the last film) it will keep pretty close to the book.

The last movie is gonna be the one thats split. If so, they are gonna have to do a bang up job trying to fill in those gaps they left out in the movies (Bill Weasley being on of them).

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Eh. I'm going because we won free tickets at after-prom. The last movie was awful. Just... Awful. I'm normallynot picky about book to movie adaptations, but there's no reason that the longest book in the series got the shortest film adaptation.

So I'm going in with low expectations, the 6th book is my second favorite so maybe I'll be surprised, that's what I'm hoping at least...

Also the fact it gets a pg rating makes no sense whatsoever.

I really liked Half-Blood Prince, so I'll be nitpicking the movie to death for sure if I have to watch it.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, every movie after the second one has sucked. I don't have much hope for this one.

David Yates made the most boring and most petty HP book into something watchable. He's now working with the second best book in the series, so I'm pretty excited.

What I like is the idea that they plan to add some more scenes that actually make sense within the movie (candy that makes animal sounds from PoA I'm looking at you)

I thought that the 5th movie was much better than the 4th one, actually. I enjoyed it a lot more and felt like it kept with the mood of the book more closely. (That just my opinion; everybody feels differently about the books/movies.)

As for the books, I think that each book is better than the last, except for book 6 and 7, which I really viewed as being 1 book, parts 1 and 2. So they were equal in my mind.
