Yeeeaaaah xD To be honest, I've never been a fan of the HarryxGinny connection, even in the books, but while watching it on the big screen the whole thing just seemed incredibly lame. It's just so bland. Even when she's sitting with the them in their dormitory or in the main hall, she looks terribly out of place and boring. Well, to me anyway.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

It was a great movie. There was too much romance and some of the plot was left out, but everything needed was present and the visuals were finally not pitch black.

That's at the end of the seventh. Yes, it is an awesome quote.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I thought this movie was very entertaining, but a bit disappointing. I loved all the Voldemort backstory in the book, and while I feel all the flashbacks wouldn't have translated well to film and held back the plot too much, the movie could have shown a bit more insight into Voldemort's psychology (his love for trophies, his fear of death and darkness) and done a better job relating Voldemort's history to Harry's.

There was so much going on in the movie, from Quidditch to teen sexual tension to Slughorn's subplot, yet the story didn't feel that coherent as a whole. Including Scrimgeour, and showing Harry rejecting the Ministry, would have given the story more weight.

I was fine with most of the cuts though.

It's still true. I find the first 2 films lifeless and tedious; they just feel like staged book readings and not actual film adaptations.

SPOILERS:

I think its Sirius Black's brother. At the beginning, Horace said his name was Regulas or something, idk. But I was like....R...A...B!!!! OMG! haha...I felt soo smart. (:

Sorry if I seem dumb, I haven't read the last two books.
Pretty good guess.
R.A.B is Regulus Black. This is revealed in the 7th book. Kreacher the house elf tells the tale of Regulus and what happened with the fake horcrux. They left out Kreacher in the 6th movie for reasons unknown. He doesnt say anything until the 7th however.

I liked Ginny but some of her parts did seem too rigid. At times she seemed to be acting on some sort of zombie reaction. Oh well. I agree with error about leaving out some of those memory scenes. It would have been nice to have explained the ring more. it has a huge role in the next one so. hmmm...

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

That was pretty awesome. My favorite performances, in order, were: the above, Bellatrix, Snape, Dumbledore, Draco, Ron, Felix'd Harry, and Slughorn.

Dumbledore's Inferno will now be etched into my mind for a good while. Anyone remember the feeling they got when they first saw Gandalf showing up with the Riders of Edorad in the climax of the Two Towers? Visually, it was just as powerful. Emotionally, it wasn't on that level, but it had the same sort of resonance.

The focus on the romance and the character relationships was both the right and wrong direction for this thing to go in. Right as in it helped make it a better film, and gave it more weight than pretty much every other Blockbuster released this summer.

It was wrong because this really wasn't meant to be released in the summer: it was held back from it's intended Winter release. And as seen from the film, its mood fit its origins. With this summer's flow of flicks filled with mindless action and cheap laughs, seeing this movie at this time just felt off. This was definitely meant for winter.

***

I'm pretty happy with a lot of the cuts they made. In the book, the battle at Hogwarts was a mess and an absolute displeasure to read. I'm really glad they axed it.

R.A.B. spoilers for people who haven't read the books, or who don't friends that are dicks:
They made Regulus too obvious this time around, imo.

I agree, Ringo.

This beat out the first movie as my favorite. Both Hermoine and Ginny looked spectacular.

And, is it just me, or is Voldemort not scary at all?

Actually it was more like the battle with the Balrog for us. My friend turned to me during Dumbledore's scene and said "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" i lol'd and hard! Yes it reminded me so much of that!

Voldy isnt really that scary. He was meant to be scary originally but it seems Rowling made him into a more psychological villain in the later books. He seems rather humorous in the 7th at times where he does stuff that one goes "umm..what a novice.." but when you think about what he does and his minions do, its more psychological. Atleast that was my impression. Some of his Death Eaters are actually more scary than Voldy.

I mean in the movies though. Everytime I see him, I laugh at the lack of his nose. He's just funny, not scary or anything.

Oh. yeah his design is weird but thats kinda how he looks in the books..sorta. I think its the actor's movements and facial expressions that make Voldy seem so funny. I do see what you mean though.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Hahaha, the last post in this topic was when the movie started for me. =w=

I just got home, and I must say I'm honestly very happy at the outcome of this film, ignoring some of the awkward romance scenes. Ron and Luna have both moved up my favourite characters list in their performances in this film. Felix'd Harry was fantastic too, I wish they had more of that verison of him.

Now spoilers time!

I was miffed that they didn't throw in characters like Dobby, and reduced the appearances of Fred and George among characters. Then there is the total of TonksxLupin scenes. I rather liked that pairing. :<

The changes to Dumbledore's death was rather interesting. Snape silently gestures Harry to be quiet, pretending to be a good guy was awesome. I was like o-o when he showed up out of nowhere.

Speaking of violent stuffs, I liked the seeing the destruction of random places. In the sixth book I never really got the feeling of terror until the very end. (Edit: Scratch that, according to Bitterlime it actually did happen. Shows how long its been since I read it)

Didn't like the Harry and Ginny scenes, but I loved the implied Ron and Hermione ones (come on it was obvious that they are going to go out from at least the third book. :3)

Lastly one of my favourite quotes: "And one day it just....poofed!"

How awkward must it have been for Harry when Ginny was tying his shoelace?

My friends and I were all waiting for Ron/his mom/his dad to walk in during that scene. This movie was definitely the funniest of the series.

Am I the only one who really dislikes Daniel Radcliffe's acting? :/ He always seems so...wooden.

Apart from that though, I thought this was a very enjoyable movie. Hermione and Ron were hilarious. Also, this film was more powerfully emotional than any other Harry Potter movie has been so far. I generally think they're getting better, really - my order of preference for the films would probably be 6 > 5 > 3 > 4 > 2 > 1

I particularly loved the inferno scene, when Dumbledore fought off the Inferi. Wow. He reminded me so much of Gandalf at that moment.

It was a pretty awesome book, no doubt. But, pretty much every one of those film adaptions just ends up disappointing. No matter how good the critics say it is, I'm not going to watch it. Sorry, guys, old habits die hard : \

if my friends drag me to it i'll tell you what i thought tho
