Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Last thing I heard was that this movie is the best of the lot. Well, I'm going to see it at midnight tonight so I'll go see for myself.
With 95% at Rotten Tomatoes it's got to be at least enjoyable.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
The movies have been getting better and better (the first 2 were by far the worst). I loved the books, but I couldn't care less how much the movies change or leave out from the books, as long as they work well as films and capture the spirit of the books.
Looking forward to this one. |

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
I didn't care much for this film. While it followed the book closely for most of the part, I found it to be quite boring. There was too much idle chat and almost every scene had something to with Slughorn (yes, I know he was a vital character to the plot, but the film nearly revolved entirely around him) or a random, pointless joke (although I did find a few of the jokes to be quite humorous).
What I disliked the most was the rather abrupt ending. I found the battles within Hogwarts between the Death Eaters and the Teachers/Students to be quite exciting in the novel, yet the movie left all of that out. Harry wasn't even stunned before Dumbledore died, he just stood below the confrontation watching. |

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Definitely one of the best films of the series. Much better than the previous installment. The ending was rather abrupt, but it's leading into the next film, so it's to be expected.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Just saw it this morning. VERY good film, and probably the only Potter film I truly enjoyed. Wish they would've made it PG-13 and added more of the creepiness that was in the book, but it was still impressive. 4 stars.

Viral, really? thats......very interesting since Snape and Malfoy should be the main focus of the film. Slug has a lot of parts in the book though. Does the two (in the spoiler tags) have a lot of focus? If not, then D: Also Narcissa Malfoy was introduced finally in the films with this movie. Im curious to how she was. Full on reviews needed!

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
I absolutely loved it, though those who have dubiously read the books, like myself, will notice a truckload of changes.
I wanted moar Snape thought. In the sectumsempra scene, his Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, and even a little more struggle between the two during the 'fight' at Hogwarts. I was really disappointed they left out the "DON'T CALL ME A COWARD!" little bit, which was probably my favorite scene in the book. They ought to have ended it with Dumbledore's funeral, which was a phenomenal scene in the book.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Just got back from it.
Visually, I was impressed. Some of the dialogue made me laugh, like the talk about "her skin is nice" between Harry and Ron xD. Loved Bellatrix, but I always love the insane characters. Loved Malfoy. Lavender creeped me out xD. Luna was adorable, though I wish her lion head piece roared like in the book. Still, she's kooky and I love it. Almost fell out of my chair laughing at Emma Watson's crying expression. I think, though, I was hoping for more of a confrontational moment between Snape and Harry at the end, maybe a bit more anger on Snape's part. Dumbledore, well, I've not been a fan of him in the movies, but 'twas still sad. Music was good. Harry's personality while he was "lucky" was hilarious, as well as Ron's moment with the love potion. Also, maybe I missed it in previous films, but when was it made clear that Lupin and Tonks were an item? I'm not sure, like I knew from the books they were, but I can't remember if that was established in previous movies that they were in love. Overall, not bad, better than the other movies, though.

I'm glad they lightly touched on that, though people who aren't familiar with the character (i.e. people who don't read the books and just see the films), probably disregarded the "sweetheart" comment Tonks made. Any mention of their relationship wasn't mentioned in the previous films, and it wasn't really mentioned in the previous books either.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
This one was pretty good.
It was funny and serious at the same time. I think it was the best one out of all the movies so far. |
