Bruno
I watched this film today, and absolutely loved it, even though it was rather similar to Borat. Has anyone else seen it?

Re: Bruno
I reckon it's as funny as Borat, although maybe not as original. There were more...shall we say, "extreme" moments in it though.

Re: Bruno
I'll wait for this to come out on DVD/Blu-ray. I didn't see Borat in the cinema, so won't be seeing this either.

Re: Bruno
ali g is already a movie, apparently.
and i'll be the first to say: lotta dick. lotta, lotta, lotta dick. and i feel bruno and borat were really different; bruno's a little more.. theatrical? than borat was, which made the situations seem much more realistic. sacha definitely provides his audience with what he does best: freaking people out with dicks.

Re: Bruno
The biggest waste of $15. Ever.
The only thing that gives those kind of movies any appeal to me is the promise of the non-staged pranks which can be at times quite amusing. But take for example the bondage scene in the hotel. The camera man walks down the corridor infront of the hotel employee who pays no attention at all to him. Its obviously staged and I can't help keep thinking about it when i'm watching that sort of thing which ruins it completely. I'm always thinking "If I were in there situation, say, in the middle of the bush, wouldn't I be the least bit curious about what the camera man was doing? Would I just ignore him completley?". The stunts such as the Paula Abdul one where it would be natural to have a camera in your face are slightly more entertaining but are few and far between. 3/10 |

Re: Bruno
Borat was funny. Bruno was offensive, crude and not worth $18. I'm pretty laid back, and this was too much for me. Maybe it's because I'm gay, I dunno. They went to some pretty crazy extremes. I think the most offensive part was filler-nudity. It was unnecessary.
I think that Borat was so funny. There was just the right mixture of comical appeal (racism, funny wordplay, etc) none of which were extreme (only borderline). And it really revealed how intolerant Americans can be. Bruno...not so much. A lot more of it was staged. It was pretty disgusting. Like the scene at the swinger's party, with that psycho dominatrix gal...omg that made me so afraid of women. But that's beside the point. Overall...horrible, don't waste your money, not NEAR as funny as Borat.

I haven't seen either of 'em.
Sacha is not my thing. "LOOK, THIS STUFF IS CRAZY AND OVER THE TOP, I'M HILARIOUS!" Meh. |

Re: Bruno
I really liked Borat, Bruno was just okay. It had a couple of funny moments, but for the most part I kept thinking to myself "This was a lot better the first time I saw it" Because that's what it essentially is, Borat 1.5
Borat contained a variety of humor elements, whereas Bruno spent the vast majority of its length making gay jokes that ranged between being insulting, crude, and just played-out after a while. Just like Chuck and Larry was, this was a very disrespectful portrayal of gays.

Re: Bruno
Hmmm...I think he played an extreme stereotype of a gay person in order to provoke reactions from people who are genuinely anti-gay. I wasn't offended at all. It was actually pretty eye-opening, the level of bigotry and stupidity he exposed in some people though.

Re: Bruno
Just saw it last night. It wasn't as funny as Borat, but it had its moments.

Re: Bruno
Saw it yesterday. Loved it, though I don't think it was as well pieced out as Borat (okay okay, that's subjective, but eh, I loved that, too). With all the nudity, racist cracks, stereotyping, the bit that got me going D: the most, honestly, was the parents being interviewed to have their kids in those photo shoots. Other than that, I laughed myself silly.

Re: Bruno
Definitely worth seeing. While it may not be as original as Borat, it makes you laugh all the same.

Re: Bruno
I thought Borat was ok, but not great. However, Buno looks like it will be a good laugh, so i'll watch it.

In that regard, the film does a great job at showing how heartless we as a society can still be when it comes to accepting homosexuality.
