Re: Transformers: Rise of The Fallen
I'm going to see it this Sunday
![]() It looks promising. Hopefully it'll be like the first one. I thought it was really good, despite the fact that there was no Prowl. I liked Prowl, but the bad police decepticon was good. |

Adult swim keeps repeating how badass the explosions look in that movie.

That's because they're getting paid for it.

Re: Transformers: Rise of The Fallen
I certainly liked it, but I guess I could be qualified as a Transformers fanboy
![]() Depsite that, I do have some complaints: I heard them mention Arcee in the beginning, then forgot she even existed 'til her one single line in the hole movie, near the end. Megatron could have been out of the movie and it wouldn't change much. I didn't like his role being downhgraded to servant of The Fallen. :/ Starscream could have just as easily pledged his loyalty to The Fallen without him being Megatron's boss. It just downplayed Megatron's badass level... I...Really wasn't happy with what they did with Jetfire, either. An old man, regardless of his awesome, just doesn't fit him...ANd I may be wrong, since I came into the fandom during Armada, but I don't recall him ever being a Decepticon in any continuity. On the plus side: We finally see where Scorponok ran off to when he vanished in the first movie, so good for them for bringing up that loose end. Starscream and Megatron's retreat leads way for a third movie. I'm hoping it'll involve Unicron, personally.

Re: Transformers: Rise of The Fallen
Anyone who *****es about the story in a movie with giant alien robots beating each other's asses needs to stfu.
That being said, the movie as incredibly badass. It was everything the first movie should have been. THAT being said, it has a lot of flaws. There were things that really really disappointed me. A character I've been waiting for since part 1 is like.. in the film.. But does little to nothing. Sigh. Still, incredibly fun movie. |

Re: Transformers: Rise of The Fallen
From what I heard, if you like watching alien robots fighting each other and looking Megan Fox's body, you'll like this movie. I definitely want to see this.

Re: Transformers: Rise of The Fallen
Saw the film last night. Here's my quick review:
![]() Now, to be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Transformers film. While the action was exhilarating and the visual effects awe-inspiring, the story and human characters themselves fell pretty flat for me. That said, the movie did prove to be a lot of fun to watch, and as a result, one of the very few decent “summer blockbusters” of ’07. So, going into Revenge of the Fallen, I was expecting more of the same…and…well…that’s pretty much what I got. ![]() The movie essentially takes everything that was good about the first movie and makes it even better. The Transformers themselves are given much more screen time this time around, thankfully, including more squabbling between Megatron and Starscream (which was something severely lacking from the first film). The action sequences are also even more intense, providing some of the best I’ve seen since – probably – the first Transformers. The most impressive aspect of this film, however, is the visual effects themselves. All of the ‘bots look far more real than they did in the first movie, and are especially impressive when you see them interacting with the live actors. Seriously, these are quite possibly the best visual effects I’ve seen in the history of motion pictures. It’s a good thing that the special effects and action sequences are as spectacular as they are, too, since they’re the only parts of the film that are truly engaging. The story is all over the place, full of plot holes and characters that are not the least bit endearing. This leads me to two of the new Autobots introduced in the film, Mudflap and Skids. I’ll try to keep it to a minimum, but simply put, these two are the most stereotypically racist characters I’ve seen in quite a while. On top of that, they’re annoying as hell, and really took me out of the film every second that they were on screen. As most viewers have already put it, they’re the new Jar Jar Binks. Also, the live-acting, for the most part, is mediocre at best, with some of the worst dialogue I’ve heard all year. Even with all of these weaknesses, however, I had a moderately fun time watching this movie. I can understand why this movie has already gotten such a beating from fans and critics alike, but for me personally, Revenge of the Fallen worked. I got virtually everything that I wanted out of a movie like this, which was really just watching a bunch of robots beating the snot out of each other. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I absolutely recommend that you go out and see Revenge of the Fallen, for no other reason than the action and special effects alone. Just…chuck your brain out the door. You’re not going to need it. 6.5/10 |

Re: Transformers: Rise of The Fallen
The good: it's easier to follow the action, as individual transformers are being given more distinctive colours. In the first film, I had trouble telling most of them apart (if two were fighting, they'd just become a single gigantic mass of metal to my eyes, and it became hard to distinguish fists from feet) except Prime, Bee, Starscream and Scorponok. So the introduction of more varied colours kept me in the loop as to who was who, and therefore the action made far more sense.
The film also takes only minor liberties with the source material, and things like the Matrix of Leadership and The Fallen have more or less the same treatment they always did. I went with my brother, my sister-in-law, and four kids aged 3-6. Everyone enjoyed it, and for a good hour afterwards the kids did nothing but talk about who their favourite transformer was. However, if you're bringing kids too, BE WARNED: there was a lot of cursing in it. I mean a LOT. The bad: The characters don't really get much development in the film, aside from Sam and Mikaela. Make no mistake: this is not an intelligent film; it's a popcorn movie and should be treated as such. Though even as a popcorn movie, it's hard to truly invest in any of the human characters (except for maybe Lennox and Epps, who are likeable). Even most of the transformers fall victim to this, and the only Autobots that get a personality are Prime, Bee, and Jetfire. The twins are annoying, Ironhide and Arcee are glorified cameos, and Wheelie... well, let's just say that his change of heart is inexplicable. There are also numerous plot holes, and though I won't spoil the film, I will point out that constellations have different positions at different times of year, so Sam and co got REALLY lucky to be where they were on exactly the right night. The in-between: Megan Fox is hawt, but some shots were just gratuitous. Fortunately, most of the gratuity was over with in the first half-hour. So though Bay caters to the horny teenagers, he saves the film by not doing it too much. 7/10 Quote:
