People at the Cinemas

Alright well this is sort of a rant topic but...

Have you ever been to the movies and someone sitting nearby was really annoying? Making sounds, chewing his/hers popcorn super loud. Texting during the movie. etc.

When I went to Star Trek there was this girl who kept making expressions on scenes where the characters wouldn't say anything but would make facial expressions.

For instance, there was a scene where Spock raised his eyebrow and was looking at Kirk (I think) during this 2 second pause she would say something like, "Umm Okay?" like she was making up the dialog for all those scenes. It was so annoying.

Another time during Xmen Origins, there was a guy sitting behind me and at every action scene he would say "Kickass!" and he wouldn't stop. Also when they showed the trailer for District 9 and then gave the abbreviation D9 he said, "Oh D9 you sank my battleship." What a clever *******. lol /rant rant

Anyway, my point is has anything like this happened to you, even though I'm sure it has.

Re: People at the Cinemas

There was one time... I was watching Spider-Man 3, and y'know the bit where Pete accidentally hits MJ? Everyone in the audience was going: 'ooooooh' and I thought: 'I hate audience participation', but just then one guy up front goes 'YEEES!' and everyone, including me, had to laugh.

Re: People at the Cinemas

I think it was when I went to see Iron Man. In the opening trailers there was this really fat guy, and at the end of each one he would turn around and say "wow, that looks pretty good" or something like that. He made some comments during the movie that I couldn't hear, and then he made some comments about the ending when the credits came on.

This was the worst thing to happen. Since I generally see a movie a week+ after it comes out I don't have issues with people.

Went to see star trek. Unfortunately, my buddies and I ended up next to a group of hardcore trek fans. Dressed up and everything. They criticized the movie up till Kirk was making out with the green chick when finally I asked them to kindly shut the **** up.

Re: People at the Cinemas

My friends dragged me to Meet The Spartans on opening night. I expected a pretty bad crowd and I was right. The theater was filled with loud and obnoxious teenagers. You couldn't get anywhere without hearing some dickhead laugh or make a sex joke. I couldn't even try to enjoy myself since the movie was a steaming pile of ****.

When I saw Cloverfield every time they showed the hot chick the dude beside me put his hand on my leg. I told him to stop but the rest of the movie he stared at me. <_<

Re: People at the Cinemas

It's unbelievable how these people are still alive. I'd think they'd all be pelted with fosilized popcorn by now, but they're a surviving bunch. When I was watching Lord of the Rings there were these two guys dressed in L.A.R.P. outfits (trying to cosplay for LotR, but clearly they didn't have all the necessary means) and they would make every unnecessary comment like "Oh whoa, the sword is glowing blue! The orcs are coming!". The sucky thing is they were whispering it loudly so everybody in a 3 seat radius can hear them. Man that's annoying.

In the Dark Knight (this one I didn't mind that much) remember the scene where Batman has flipped Joker's truck and flips his Bat-pod around by making a 360 on a building? This group of kid in the back of the theater were all like "Aww SNAP Batman!". I didn't mind this one because it was a pretty cool move on Batman's part. And of course Gordon coming out of the SWAT car to arrest Joker.

I saw the movie Twilight (don't ask) and every-friggin'-time that Edward Vampire came on the screen, I swear at least 15 girls would gasp and another 15 would wimper.

I'm sure there are a few other audience moments that have happened, but thankfully my brain has pushed them out of my ears to not remember them anymore.

That reminds me. When I went to see the Dark Knight, someone took their baby into it and it was crying really loud for a good 30 minutes, until they had to leave. I feel sorry for them since the movie just came out, and the tickets went fast. It probably dampened their nice night out.

I went to see Spiderman 3 and there was a couple right in front of us making out. Who makes out during a Spiderman movie? Phones don't really bother me unless their light is shining right in front of me or if they're not silenced. Talking can be annoying but it depends on where in the movie they'e talking and if their voice is annoying. But I'd never do THIS.

Re: People at the Cinemas

This is why I wait till the DVD comes out to watch any movie. No movie is fun with people around you you don't know. Lucky for me I live in a pretty small town and after the movie is out for a few days the theater isn't packed. But it's still annoying. Thus, as I said, I wait for the DVD. I just ****ing hate having to wait so long for it to come out. I forget about how much I wanted to see the movie and never end up getting it (well not never, but still). I've never had anyone really annoy me (apart from people laughing too long, but I've done that) so chances are I've annoyed people. (I do that).

My guess is a GF dragged him.
A guy on Airosft Pacific had his girl friend try the same thing. he said if he went he got a "free pass".
I think they saw confessions of a shopaholic.

I have been pretty lucky when it comes to going to the movies. Most of the time everyone just watches silently, unless of course its a funny scene and people are laughing.

Re: People at the Cinemas

I remembered one I forgot to add. When I went to see Star Wars Episode 3 there was a guy sitting about 6 seats away from me. Well, in the beginning when they are on General Grievous' ship, R2 kept sliding around and hitting the walls. Well this guy was laughing so hard at those scenes. I mean it was so overly dramatic.

Another time when I went to see Yes Man there was a guy sitting in front of me, and every time a funny scene happened, he'd go like this, "AHAHA OH LORD OH LORD OH MAN BLESS HIS SOUL OH LORD" and of course I chuckled at that a lot but it was still irritating.

Re: People at the Cinemas

I hate people who bring babies into the theatre. its freaken rude! You know that kid is gonna scream!
People who talk loudly during movies annoy me too.
Another thing that annoys me but cant really have anything done about it is when younger kids (between the ages of 5 and 11) go to the movies (usually with their parents) and make comments loudly about the film.
Teens are the worst. THE WORST!!!! They decide to put it upon themselves to ruin movie viewing for the rest of the world. They do not turn off their stupid phones because "OMG! I cant live without my phone for an hour and half! ILL DIE!" So they text and text and text even though theres signs and stuff saying "DO NOT TEXT" or even when management says "DO NOT TEXT" they do it anyway! Or they scream at horror movies just because. I actually complained once after seeing a horror movie about the screaming obnoxious brat teens and i gotta free movie pass! No lie! I go to the theatre alot and i rarely complain about anything so they oblige lol!

Oddly enough i had no bad experiences seeing Twilight (and i saw it twice!)

This is a great point. When I go into theaters and it says to either silence or turn off my phone. I do it and don't use it. For two reasons. First, who the hell wants to text message and talk on the phone DURING a movie. I mean you go to the movies to watch the movie not text. Second, I do it so I don't bother other people, like doing a good deed. I thought it would work out like karma or something but apparently not.

Re: People at the Cinemas

My Uncle and Aunt see pretty much every movie to come out because they own a website called www.geeksofdoom.com and they always have to make marks and look for the bad stuff about a movie but one time they told me about is when they went to see Wall-E well people were screaming, throwing popcorn at the screen, and talking on the phone because the movie to them didn't mean anything and my Uncle and Aunt had to get one of there co workers on the site to see it and rate it.
