Re: The Hero of Time Zelda Movie

I saw Sage of Darkness and that had some pretty good parts. I imagine the dialogue in this will be cheesy, but i do admire them for putting so much time and effort into making this. I do want to watch it.

The manga is actually quite good.

But I agree with you that film really doesn't suit Zelda. It's hard to translate what makes the games great into a movie.

I've read bits and pieces of various adaptations of the series in a comic form, some of which must have been the official manga. Didn't do it for me. For me, the series centers around Link as a silent protagonist that the player gives voice and personality to. He is, in a way, the 'everyman' (or 'everyplayer' as it were). Once you start giving him a voice, whether it be printed or spoken, it completely ruins the effect and the story loses pretty much all of what made it engaging in the first place, because the character is no longer the avatar of the player, but its own entity.

That was very... very difficult to watch. Very cringe worthy.

I wouldn't say it ruins the story. If it were to happen in the one of the games, it might, but in a manga that changes quite a bit of the story to be more enjoyable to read than play, I find it acceptable.

There's a difference between can and wont. Technically, you could sue anyone for anyone. These kids could sue Nintendo the next time a Zelda game is released. (Not the first time something like that has happened.) They wouldn't have a case, but would Nintendo have a case if they sued these kids? They might. Considering how, not only Zelda centric it is, but also focused on one particular game, this probably wouldn't fit under fair use.

Of course, Nintendo wouldn't do that, as that would be pointless. They have nothing to gain from a lawsuit like that besides bad PR.

Also, this trailer is much better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7I1M...ture=iv&fmt=22

Anyway, this will probably suck, but I'll still torrent it.

Well, obviously anyone can sue anyone for anything. But I don't think Nintendo would get anywhere in suing these guys. They aren't making a profit off of the fan film...

They would probably win, actually. If Microsoft can win a lawsuit against Digital Cornerstone because LindowsOS, a freely distributed operating system, sounds too similar to Windows, then I'm sure Nintendo could win a lawsuit against these guys for using concepts and characters owned by Nintendo. However, like I said, they probably wouldn't do this, just because it wouldn't be worth the hassle, cost, and negative PR.

Really? I didn't think it mattered until some kinda of cash started being made off of the material.

Oh well.

Hmm.. interesting.
their poor budget. Either way though i wouldnt mind seeing this (even if it does look really bad) i dont think id actually pay to see it though. the costumes look pretty funky but i would attribute that to lack of real budget. i may give these guys an A for effort if nothing else.

Watching it, even if it sucks won't make me hate Zelda or make me angry or "vomit" or any of that. I just won't like it. Sheesh...

Re: The Hero of Time Zelda Movie

Am I the only one willing to actually look past the rather terrible acting, costumes, and special effects and enjoy it for what it is?

If I get a chance to watch this movie I am definitly going to watch it.

^Man speaks wisdom. I'm the same. Sure it looks cheesy, but I don't care. It's the only thing we Zelda fans have right now, and you never know, we might love it. If we hate it, oh well, its not the end of the world.

I got goosebumps from watching the trailer. I really liked the music. This looks pretty good for having next-to-no budget. I'd like to watch it.
