It let them tie in two aspects of Vampire mythology: Their obsessive need to count things, and their living in old castles. In addition, it gave them the lovely pun of calling him "the count".

The Jim Henson company has had it's fair share of very intelligent people over its life.
Statler and Waldorf are still the best fictional characters ever.

Re: Script for Twilight sequel found in trash.

basically every culture has an original spin on what a vampire may be...the fact that they sparkle is just adding to one of the ideas that vampires drag pray in with their alluring physical appearance, human succubi

edit: oh right

so there's no real reason to make fun of the fact that

I think I would have leaked the script.

Just for fun.
Yeah so would I. The reason? Because scripts usually tend to be very different from the books the scripts are based on. Or I would have kept it for craps and giggles.
John is absolutely right about Vampires and how they depicted in modern novels and such. The only complaint i had with Meyer's vamps is how completely removed from the horror aspect of vampirism in general, they are. Ive ranted about that many times in the past and i will continue to rant about it. Like brokenjoker, i found the stories to very simple but immersive somehow. I think its because of the simplicity of the writing and characters' emotions that i found it easy to understand and enjoy. By no means is Twilight a literary masterpiece! Oh HELL no. But you know, its kinda fun and i really liked Meyer's descriptions of the locations. (Namely the main location of Washington state. The rest of the locations ie, Italy were poorly represented.)

Re: Script for Twilight sequel found in trash.

I found thinking of the vampires in the story as something other than vampires, some other sort of monster-like creature, made them way more palatable when watching the flick. Since they don't really have a whole lot in common with most other conventional modern vampires and whatnot.

Also, I think I actually came across a brief excerpt from the books, and even though I had heard a lot of negative things about the quality of the writing (and the story, and the creepy misogyny), I still laughed out loud about just how bad it really was. Maybe it is just this one small section, but I almost hope it isn't because if the rest of it is written like it, I definitely want to read it just for a laugh.

Oh, there's much more stuff like that throughout the book. It's kind of like, "Okay, we get it! Bella loves Edward a lot! Alright! Stop!"

Haha, but I still liked it nevertheless. :3

Its not so much the message I find funny, but just the actual words. I think the, 'my stomach was already full - full of butterflies' is what did it. That's just so...so hokey. I've heard the books get compared to fanfic before, and that actually reads like someone trying to write an example of bad fanfic.

Apparently. I laughed when I first read it, quite unexpectedly, so it came out like a snort at first. It kinda hurt.

Re: Script for Twilight sequel found in trash.

Well, that part isn't in the movie. I think they didn't spend a lot of time in Bella's head in the flick. Maybe the beginning had her narration, but that's it. So we didn't get bon mots like that.

I think I've read better in those Stanford Anthology things where they have short stories from 6th-8th graders.

Well, er, I've got a good memory for trivia, and being around the internet for, what, seven years now? Has left me with a nice complement of completely useless information.

Most of that, however, comes from a book I just bought called "The Folklore of Discworld". It's a book on the mythology of the Discworld (from Terry Pratchett's books). However, it compares the folklore there with the folklore in the real world, since Mr. Pratchett was unabashedly adapting ideas.

So the section on vampires goes into a bit of background on them.

So, in this case, it's simply that I'd recently read a book that mentioned the subject.

Hah, it occurs to me that a fun supernatural power would be to always have just finished reading a book that's helpful in whatever situation you find yourself in...
